So like the tittle says my Philips blu ray player is region B. How can I change it to Region A? I am in the US and it should be Region A right? It is set to DVD 1 and i found the code to change to 0 so the DVDs all work but not the blu rayswell some do as they are region A B C but I just ordered some off amazon and are only region A and won't play
Thanks

You can't change your blu-ray region, just your dvd region. All you need to do is copy your blu-ray to hdd and make them mkv and they will play,if you don't want to do that then there's nothing else you can do.
I think,therefore i am a hamster. -
Well that sucks! I guess that explains why some rental blu ray movies from Redbox don't work! They must only be Region A, as apposed to the store bought ones I have that are ABC. But now that I ordered some from Amazon, it wouldn't play and I checked the back of the box and it says it is A. You would think these players would be sold as Region A since I bought it here in the US and the US is Region A. Bought it new from Walmart!

the reason some bluray movies from redbox don't work is that you have to update
your players firmware. -
Oh so would the update change my player to Region A? Cus that would be great and what I would like!
If I do this:
1. Power on with no disc in the machine,
2. Press 'HOME'
3. Enter 8520
The BDP2100 will display a small information window, giving the software version in use AND the region code.
It shows THIS: BD (B) DVD (1)
And if I enter the dvd region free hack it will go to 0 and I can play my Region 4 dvd's. But i have to do this every time I want to watch them as it doesn't save the dvd region 0 code.
And like I said the ones I have bought from the store, when I check the back of the blu ray case, on the bottom where the information is at, it shows ABC.
This:
And I recently ordered this, Attack on Titans Blu ray part 1 & 2: but here is the link to part 1 https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0ah...10151844,d.eWE and if you check the link, it is only Region A, and not Region ABC like the other movies I have bought!
So that leaves me to believe that the blu ray redbox movies are also only Region A and therefore do not work either.
I get the message of something like that the disc is not region compatible or something like that -
i would take that player back to walmart. it looks like that someone bought that player you have
switched players and returned it back to walmart for a refund. and walmart put it back o the shelf. -
I have had it for like 1 or 2 years now. I guess I'm stuck and have to get another blu ray player and make sure it is Region A for blu ray!
I mostly use it for the USB to be able to play videos from a flash drive and hdd and for dvds and some blu rays that I have bought but like I said the are all Region ABC and therefore play fine and the Redbox blu rays that some play and some don't cus I'm guessing some are Region ABC and others are just A, so I had just been sticking to Redbox dvds as all those play fine!
So yeah I will need another one for the blu rays that are only Region A, like the Attack on Titan series that I just got on blu ray and is only Region A -
Anyone have any experience with sending in your devices back to get fixed? I am wondering about contacting Philips and letting them know that my player is Region B, and that it should be Region A.
Specs from their website.
http://www.usa.philips.com/c-p/BDP2100_F7/blu-ray-disc-dvd-player/specifications
And I am sure it would come out of my pocket right, or is there any chance they might do this for free, as it is Region B, when it should be Region A? -
Did you try to reset the player to factory defaults? (Setup-->Advanced-->Restore Default Settings).
If you did and it still says BD(B) then press 0358 (when in "home" menu), select Restore, press OK and reboot the player.Last edited by marlboro_man; 5th Jan 2016 at 10:31.

I will give it a shot after I get out of work today!
But every time after I power it off, and back on, and if i changed some settings on it, it will reset. Also if I enter the 0 region dvd code resets and I have to enter it everytime if I want to watch my Region 4 dvds that I have as it doesn't save it, it resets back to 1. -
That is definitely not a normal behavior. Try to flash it with the firmware from Philips site. Then do the reset procedures I mentioned earlier. If it will still reset itself and doesn't switch to region A then it is most likely a hardware issue - probably defective NAND flash.

Ok thanks will do the update and hopefully one or the other works!
-
Ok so I updated the player with Philips latest update and nothing!
Then I tried this "reset the player to factory defaults? (Setup-->Advanced-->Restore Default Settings)" and nothing!
Then I tried this "press 0358 (when in "home" menu), select Restore, press OK and reboot the player." and nothing!
So I tried it again, but this time I did not reboot player and I checked it and it was now BD(A)! So finally got it to Region Abut like I had said before, if I mess with the settings and turn it off and back on, the settings will reset, they won't be saved! So it does change it to (A) but doesn't stay saved after I power it off and back on again, so I would basically have to do that every time I power it on to get it to Region A.
Well I guess that's better than nothing, as I already bought another one anyway.
Thanks for you help marlboro_man!
