    hi,

What material are the cases of VHS players made of. Are there any paints or cleaning products that can be used to get rid of the scratches on the cases?

Spray paint it... that's all I got.

You can check an automotive supply store and they usually have some 'scratch' hiding materials. Some work well with some colors and paint types.
But not much works well on that type of metallic paint. The scratches are usually into the base coat/primer layer and repainting it is the best cure.
I assume repainting would be more that you want to do. If you don't mind removing the cover, not so hard to repaint after a light sanding and cleaning.

I was thinking like Redwudz in that an automotive body shop may have some good ideas for you.

But, then again, I like a beat-up look on much of my stuff. As an example, I personally think it's cool, or "edge", to be the one with the black scratchy laptop amongst the masses in the vicinity with their shiny silver MacBooks, or their consumer looking PC laptops.

My VCRs have this look too simply because I abhor the technology, and like to kick them once in a while.... but that's another story.
I hate VHS. I always did.

Trying to impress a lady friend?

Yeah, no respectable women would be with a man with a scratched VHS case. I take these matters serious. I'm on my 8th paint job.

I don't know how either of the two threads on the subject of this users VHS machines can be anything other than attempts to get around the FORUM RULES of NOT being allowed to SELL things on Videohelp.com.

How has me asking the forum about trying to get rid of scratches on my VHS player led me to being the forum rule breaker and trying to sell? LOL.

Maybe some people like having scratches on their equipment and some dont. A very valid question but a very random assumption.

I think i know where my freind from the above message has derived his assumption from. It was probably from my other thread which was asking to compare my 3 VHS decks to see which was better.

On that thread i was only responding to one of the replies where a member suggested that if i have finished digitizing my tapes then his advice would be to sell them so in response to that and with a light heart and a hint of banter i said that i dont mind selling all 3 decks if i had a good enough offer.

I didnt start the thread off by saying oh here i have 3 decks anyone want to buy them. It just panned out that way and there was no malice or rule breaking intentions behind it.

Lets chill guys. But i have respect for my dear friend hech54 who has always led the way in offering very good advice on my threads and me being a newcomer to the forum i appreciate that.

If i have done anything to rock the boat then it was all unintentional and i shall leave my VHS decks scratched up if it makes everyone happy.....LOL...

They are all in full working order. They may not be in the best of cosmetic conditions but they are all in excellent working condition and come with original remotes and instruction manuals.

Hey if someone makes a good enough offer for the three then i would sell them. Any takers?

    lol?

I think if you kept things IN context and not taken it OUT of context then it would make more sense.

Why don't you quote the whole thread and then it would make more sense and then it can be seen what the whole picture is rather then you showing a snap shot and changing the whole picture.

You remind me of journalists and what the media people do to manipulate the story. The following picture just nails it. Image

Better be careful what you say. Some users are immune to both irony and sarcasm.

Looks like he wants to clean up the cases, better eye appeal, before he puts them on the market.
