  1. I downloaded a TV program from nbc.com using youtube-dl. As far as I know, I chose the best quality. The end of the TV show doesn't have any promos for upcoming programs. The TV show just ends like a movie (with the credits). I didn't do any re-encoding. (See first screenshot of Gspot showing the specs). Someone also uploaded the same TV show to torrent. (See second screenshot of Gspot showing the specs). My question is: why does the torrent copy have a higher bit rate, fps etc? Also, the torrent copy has some promos for upcoming shows. That makes me believe the torrent copy was recorded from the live TV broadcast. But if that was the case, wouldn't Gspot show some vastly different meta data? It would seem to me a TV show recorded live would not be in the same format (h264mp4) as a webrip, unless it was re-encoded, and then it would have very different meta data. If it was re-encoded, would that make the picture clarity worse than the webrip, even though the torrent copy has a higher bitrate?

    AA recording is a recording
Not sure of what a web rip , really is
But your thinking of the broadcast like it was a DVD source..with a know constant value
You have two recordings, made by two different devices, from two different broadcast transmitters
And edited on two different computer's, the original broadcast recording was very likely between 8 to 12 gigabytes file size
As far frame rate differences, that was in the settings used by the person making recordings

There is no way to make any comparisons
The assumption would be that the larger file is sharper with higher quality
But the only thing you can do is watch both of them and choose the one you find the most visually appealing

It is possible , both recordings originated as .ts files at the device, then we're edited with something like video redo
Thus the meta data never changed
Then the files were compressed/recoded to smaller size and wrapped in the mp4 container

There are too many variables for any other answer

Any other questions or answers is like the old " why do I exist"

My preference would be to keep the the 30 fps copy
