Novice user of Avidemux 2.6.10, downloaded from this site.

I have a 530gb AVI file, raw capture using Amarectv and the Avermedia C027 hdmi capture card. Avidemux does not open this huge file! The first frame is showing all green on the preview screen. Down at the bottom showing P-FRM (01)

Funny thing is that my very first time i opened this file, it did open but at some frame a little ahead of the very beginning. I then tried to encode but kept getting errors which I did not write down (wish I had).

First things first, how to make Avidemux recognize the file? I even unistalled and reinstalled avidemux but that did not help, same negative result.

Try an older version of avidemux. Maybe 2.6.8. https://www.videohelp.com/software/AviDemux/old-versions#download

Or use something else like virtualdub.

Or are you just going to convert?

  3. "raw capture AVI" "Codec ID/Info : Ut Video Lossless Codec"
-> that i might be lossless, but that isn't raw

That aside, best way is to ask the Avidemux developers to support the codec, since libav which is used by avidemux has it's own ut video decoder it shouldn't be much of a hassle.

it's a 530gb file which I want to convert to something VideoRedo can recognize as VRD does not recognize AVI. I then want to burn onto a BD-R.
This will require file reduction obviously. I used handbrake at 15000kb/s to make it about a 23gb file, great quality, but VRD did not recognize that file either even though VRD does deal with h264 / mp4 files (this is another topic with a rare vrd error "Unable to determine initial clock, details in the log file"). (problem is I don't seem to have a vrd log file at all in c\users\appdata\roaming - but VRD still works on an mpeg2 files, so I know VRD does indeed work on this pc.

the 23gb handbrake file has commercials which I want to edit and remove. Otherwise I am able to author this 23gb file with multiavchd and burn to bdr with imgburn. So my problem is editing which I can approach in 2 ways (1) reduce the 530gb file to some format that VRD can recognize or (2) find an editor that will recognize my somehow unreadable 23gb h264 file.

I was hoping that avidemux would work since I that can reduce file size.

I tried avidemux on the 23gb h264 file too with the following error (after a brief test edit) - "the video is in copy mode with cut points on key frames" - but it did work as I did a Video (copy) and Audio (copy) but set Output format to MP4. Noticed a slight audio sync issue, what a disappointment.

VRD still did not recognize this output file though. However, avidemux can edit but seems a very tedious task since it seems to require multiple manual edit commands for each edit (vrd can do it all in one swoop).
The error also warned of corruption which i suppose would be encountered on playback in the Bluray player.

Have you tried make any other shorter sample with handbrake and see if it recognize the mp4(h264 video)? Maybe some problem with the huge 23 gb file. If so can you make shorter encoding cuts with latest vidcoder beta (based on handbrake).
