  1. Hi folks, i'm not going to pretend to be some sort of expert, as i've
only been doing this stuff for a few days!
Managed to make a few VCDs and very happy with the quality....but now im doing my first DivX > VCD.

Here are the specs of the DIVX.

    700MB
    Width: 576
    Height: 240

    Audio
    MP3 @ 160kbps

    Video
    FPS 23 @ 136kbps data rate
    Vid compression DIVXMPG4 V3

Ok.....from what I can gather this baby is in NTSC Film format, am I right?....looking at the fps.
I'm using TMPGEnc, have already created a seperate audio layer
into 48Khz Wav format to use which seems fine, but now onto the video
editing stuff. On my first attempt I did it in SVCD PAL and found that
every second or two I got a slight pause in the playback...hmmm
So I done a sample using 3:2 pulldown and PAL again on VGA: 1-1, and played it again....now seems perfect, better than VCD so quality isn't the
    issue.
All I need to know is, will this be ok in my Bush 2004 standalone player?
Esp as I thought 3:2 pulldown was more suited to converting to NTSC, or
is it suited to conversion where the SOURCE file is in NTSC Film??

Please help me on this one, id kick myself if I burn this thing to only
find it looks utter pants on my standalone, made plenty of tea coasters already!!

it back using WinDVD. Seemed spot on in full

  2. Just done CD1!!! Looks smashing using those settings.....just its a shame
the borders top and bottom are a bit too large. I didn't figure using VGA 1:1 would have had large borders, god knows how large they would have been if I selected 16:9.....or does it not work that way? lol

  3. Regardin the borders the get pretty big on movie with the Aspect Ratio 2.35:1 when played on 4:3 TV. You can cut the movie to 432*240 for 16:9 widescreen or 320*240 for 4:3 fullscreen. But both ways you loose some information on the sides but some people like fullscreen and some like widescreen.

Go here to learn more about Aspect Ratio

  4. Thanks man!
Looking at things other people say on here, these borders are probably a god send.......everyone seems to want them..lol
My TV is quite big and the borders are about 1 and a half - 2 inches at top and bottom. After awhile ive grown to like it, the cinema effect...lol
    Cheers for the help!
I guess next time I will try aspect 16:9 for research sake!
