Hey Everyone!
I'm preparing to broadcast a live event to USTREAM and need a capture device to input HDMI from a video mixer.
There will be a few cameras covering the artists, and a video mixer switching between the sources and feeding a single hdmi feed for me to broadcast.
Also, the artists will be mic'd and sound will be mixed on a separate mixer/computer, and that audio feed will be provided to me for broadcast. I'll need to adjust latency during set up to ensure sync is correct.
I already have a USTREAM channel in which I stream from VLC to FMLE to USTREAM, but that's playlist driven and I need to have a live video source for this event. I know VLC can support capture devices, so I'm probably going to pick up an Elgato HD60 and see if that will work with VLC to output the live video to FMLE to broadcast on USTREAM.. but I know some of these devices can stream to USTREAM directly. Would that be more efficient? Can I adjust audio latency that way like I can in VLC?
Also, I'm trying to keep costs low, but this device seems to be geared more for gamers. I know I'm probably best off with a blackmagic device, but can this fit the bill as a lower cost solution?
Any advice is appreciated!
Specs: Will be using either Win7 or Win8 on either an Alienware laptop or Surface 3, depending on how demanding it will be to broadcast 720p (or more if the computer can handle it)
