  1. i've been trying to make vcds/svcds that will play in my standalone dvd player for a while now but i haven't been able to get them to work no matter what i try. here's what i have tried, am i missing something?

first i tried to just burn half of a movie i have that is in .mpg format using the lates version of nero. it burned successfully but it just didn't work in my standalone dvd player, and i know my player has vcd playback

the next thing i tried was to make a svcd of the file i have so i encoded my .mpg and turned it into .mpeg using TMPGEnc and burning that as an svcd in the lastest version of nero, but when i tried to play it, it didn't work again.

so, i decided to alter that method and so after i encoded my .mpg for a svcd i converted the .mpeg to .bin/.cue and burned that using nero. once again, it burned successfully, but when i tried to play it, it didn't work

i have no more ideas but i really want to get this to work , any advice anyone could give would be great

    thanks

  2. Before you beat yourself up, does your machine also play cd-r or cd-rw.some machines will only play original store bought vcd's.Next try it in another dvd player. some dvd players don't like some brands or cd-r(w). If your not afraid go to a local audio video store, then check it out there on a few machines.Your question does have many variables start with these options then re-post to see if anyone can help you again.

download ULEAD Moviefactory Trial and use it to burn the (S)VCD.Mayby you'll have more success or MF won't accept your mpeg at all (because of wrong format). If MF can burn a SVCD, probablility is high, that it will play on a standalone.

  8. Dan, I got a similar problems as yours, only that I have an AVI file which I capture from my DV. Have you solve the problem yet, I myself still look for an answer to this.
