Probably a dumb question. But I have an MPEG file which is about 700mb, but when I load it into NERO to burn as a VCD, the file becomes much larger and no longer fits on a 80 min cd. Am I missing something, or is this normal.

Is the mpeg file in VCD format? Try to run it through VCDEasy and see if you get any error messages. Let VCDEasy make a cue/bin file and burn them with NERO.
