    Hello All,

First time posting so please be gentle!

I was recently recommended your software as a way to play BluRay Media through my Desktop PC. After having downloaded the software, I opened up Potplayer and took the following path: Potplayer--> Open--> Open Blu-ray. Following a few noises which I assumed to be reading, I was given the following message:

    Can't play the media file.

The file exists, but does not seem to have any video.

The below detail was then given under 'More Info.' Can anyone assist me with this situation? Apologies if this is a repeat post

    D:\BDMV\PLAYLIST\00100.mpls
    The contents of the file.

Try running a decrypter like DVDFab Passkey Lite first.

Potplayer will not play encrypted Blu-ray...all commercially made discs in other words. Which is why redwudz recommended using a decrypter in the background.

If you need a software player that has official certification for Blu-ray, you're down to two choices these days, WinDVD and PowerDVD. Neither are free.

DVDFab Player and Leawo Blu-ray Player are two free programs that will play many commercial discs, but are still hit or miss on support for the menus.

or get bdinfo, find out the full movie playlist and open it in potplayer.
it should work without any decrypter, but you wont have menu and extra. i'm not sure but give a try .

Thank you all so very kindly!

I think it's likely best I own up to my oversight of not getting some BluRay playing software with my new system.

Having said that, thank you all very very much for your tips! I've been able to play Bluray's using DVDFab and Potplayer but get no audio

You've all been very helpful so far and I don't want to push my luck, but any thoughts on what I can do to resolve this whilst I sort out getting PowerDVD or WinDVD?

DVDFab is giving away the full version of Passkey until August 7th. I suggest getting that program while it is free. Scroll down on this page to find the download: http://www.dvdfab.cn/promotion.htm

You'll need to use a valid email address to get the key from them, but that is all, you won't have to pay for it.

Use it in the background to decrypt Blu-ray movies. Then use Media Player Classic Home Cinema instead of Potplayer if you are having audio issues. This is just a quick fix, I'm sure someone around here can tell you how to adjust Potplayer for the audio. You should be aware you won't have access to the menus, even with a decrypter running in the background.

Audio settings with Blu-rays can be a bit tricky, but try the audio renderer, audio playback settings.

You might also try out the freeware VSO BD/Media Player I use it for BDs and MKVs on my PC. It's audio settings are a bit simpler, but Potplayer is more versatile.

    And welcome to our forums.

  8. Frequently, the audio problem of potplayer comes from ignoring the procedure of installing additional [audio] codec in the last setup while installing.
