I am recovering an old video tape to PC. I would like to create a playlist file that points to specific sections in the video, much like how a CUE file points to specific sections in an audio file. Is there any standard file format that can do this? I wasn't able to find anything on a search engine.
It would be great if the format works on consumer equipment like iPads too. I may try creating a CUE file and testing if it just works for videos too.
Edit: I have found some indication that Extended M3U files support a start-time and stop-time flag: https://superuser.com/questions/340834/playing-random-short-clips-from-a-collection-of-movies
And ASX files support a starttime flag too: https://trac.mpc-hc.org/ticket/4006
Does anyone know how broadly compatible these playlist formats are? Especially on iPads?
Try StreamFab Downloader and download from Netflix, Amazon, Youtube! Or Try DVDFab and copy Blu-rays! or rip iTunes movies!

Chapter files will book mark videos, look for a chapter editor and it will let you set the exact times you want to set chapters to.
