Hello everybody,
I intern at a video company and we shot some footage with an HDV camera. I digitized that, but the computer insisted I could only digitize to DVR-MS, a file format I have never even heard off before. My editing software also didn't know it, so I tried converting it to MOV. This is where it gets stupid:
My original DVR-MS file is 720 x 480 @ 30 fps. After conversion It's only 480 x 360 @ 15 fps. I tried MP4, same story.
Is there any way to make this just a conversion where everything stays the same except the file format? I need Premiere Pro or Hitfilm to read it so I can finally start editing. I now wasted two workdays digitizing and converting, so a quick solution would be preferable.
Thanks in advance,
Supertaures

Have you tried capture with something like HDVSplit?
Or else try convert dvr-ms files with DVRMSToolboxGUI (double click to choose input file) and choose Convert DVR-MS file to MPEG or DVR-MS to MPG with ffmpeg. I think they should avoid reconversion. Then try import the mpg in Premiere Pro. -
My laptop doesn't have a firewire, so I have to capture the footage on a different computer that I have almost no access to. It has to happen with the files I currently have.
