  1. ok so let me start of saying that i got the subs by converting them to srt from Bluray sup format by using subtitle edit

here are my subtitle edit settings should i change anything to make the subs bigger

So they show Big in MPC player (Default Preferred Size)

But very small (Extremely Tiny in Vlc media player)

Now i know i can change settings in vlc media player to make them big but i don't want to do it all do them all the time

  2. You write:

    converting them to srt
which is probably what you did as the VLC picture shows italics which is what VLC does under Windows 8.

.srt doesn't doesn't supports much formatting so the size used is set by the player. For the setting in Subtitle Edit (SE): Your first picture is settings for how subtitles are shown within SE. The second picture is for the default style used for ASS/SSA subtitles and doesn't affect srt subtitles. If you want to control the size of the subtitles you should save them as ASS from SE

    No.

The formal formatting supported by srt is very limited

Some players supports some extensions like <font size="NUMBER"> but nothing you could rely on universally.

All the time? All you have to do is set it once in the preferences.

Hi is there a font that works best for.srt

because when i download subs from various subtitles sites (.srt)

they show well in both vlc and MPC

so what font they might be using perhaps

  7. You can't control the font from within the SRT either. The player uses whatever font it wants. Or the font you specify in the player's setup options.
