That's because this disc was not made correctly.
The largest file size allowed on a DVD is .99GB (just under 1 GB). Two of your VOB files are larger than 1GB.

The VOBs may not be oversized at all. Some forms of copy protection can cause the size of VOBs to be reported incorrectly.

MakeMKV might work if the movies were authored as different titles in one VOB set. In that case it will copy each movie on the DVD to its own mkv file without re-encoding.

However, if the movies were authored as different chapters contained in one title, then MakeMKV won't do what you want. It will create one MKV file containing all the movies.

  7. Try DVDShrink. Open the disc, click the re-author button and drag the title(s) you want from the right pane to the left. When you use the backup function each title will be saved as a vob file, or set of vob files.

Make sure to disable DVDShrink's compression if you don't want it to shrink, or set the target output size to something large so it'll never want to shrink (it's DVD5 by default). When you've dragged the titles you want from right to left, select the compression setting tab at the top of the right pane to make sure all the audio/subtitle streams you want are selected.

  8. Or try DVD Decrypter in IFO Mode. If the DVD has different titles then you'll be able to choose the one you want and decrypt it as a DVD ready to play as a DVD.
