Install audacity and record what you hear and save as mp3.

First of all thanks for reply.
I use Adobe Audition for all my recordings, adacity is more or less the same)
If i rerecord all the audio file i loose quality: the sound is very poor and flat
On my laptop there is a realtek HD device, i disable microsoft and set the Realtek to record trough StereoMIx.
The record is terrible: is there a way better?
I can't believe there is not a way to do that.....

So if you record what-u-hear as uncompressed WAV @24-bit @ 48000Hz, you get garbage

As i read, recording trhiough audio Mix is the same than trasform sound analogic than again digital.
I tryed to download Audacity and recorded by wasapi method: is much better, but not THE SAME QUALITY OF THE ORIGINAL.
Perhaps i have a good hearing ability but i can hear the sound loosing quality.....
I'm looking for a way to copy WITH NO loss quality.....
    Is there something??? Help me.....

  6. Record uncompressed WAV with the same sample size, sampling rate, and number of channels as the output. Since that's exactly the same thing being sent to your audio card it will be the same thing you hear when playing the original audio.

With audacity set the record mode to windows directsound instead of wasapi since that method is emulated.

    ok,
    thanking again you guys
    here's the situation
i use now audacity, preference: in device Stereo Mix- Audio System Windows Direct Sound- 48.000Hz 16 bit (as the speakers setting)
Yes, you're right the sound is not terrible but i can evidently hear dffeferces: the sound is flat, without loudness, the medium frequences are higher.....
the same problem in wasavi mode.
I would send you the two file, it's so evidente
Notice that i disabled all the check in the Input and output devices.....

Ok, i solved it by myself perfectly
I write here for those who need help to obtain the exact copy of the original audio digital file protected by DRM
1- downlioad Audacity (you can use others, but it's free and user friendly)
2- download VB audio virtual cable here: http://vb-audio.pagesperso-orange.fr/Cable/index.htm. So you have a virtual digital cable inside your pc.Moreover, is free this too!!!
    follow the iscruction here: http://vb-audio.pagesperso-orange.fr/Cable/VBCABLE_CaseStudy_XP.pdf
You'll have a prefect copy (listen to me, i am a classical pianist and i got a perfect hearing system.....) of your file with no protection.
    Good work

  11. There must be something wrong with your "what you hear" device as it should be the same thing as the virtual cable driver.

As i tryed to explain a lot of times, the is a terrible loss of quality in what you all indicate, moreover for whom working with sounds....
It's clairly written even in Audacity: "WASAPI loopback has an advantage over stereo mix or similar inputs provided by the soundcard that the capture is entirely digital (rather than converting to analog for playback, then back to digital when Audacity receives it)."
So, the only way to have exactly a digital copy is what i wrote, surely not "What you hear method", that is terrible.....

  13. What-you-hear can be entirely digital, not an analog loopback. There's something wrong with your what-you-hear settings or driver.

I reply, then stop, what Audacity itself write: "......rather than converting to analog for playback, then back to digital when Audacity receives it ("Mode What you hear")
No controversy, I only wanted to find something that goes good 4 me and people in problem: what i wrote is perfect....other methods terrible.

  15. The virtual cable solution can also be useful for those without a what-you-hear loopback driver. The biggest problem with it is you can't hear the audio you're recording.

We're glad that you've found a good solution to your problem
However jagabo is right, there is something wrong with your computer,
normally you should not need the Virtual Audio Cable workaround
