hi, i tried my first encode in VirutalDub, (1080p mkv to avi) i created an avs script in megui then opened it in vdub, also downloaded ffmpeg plugin, so i set the 1st pass added it to queue and then the 2nd pass also added it to queue. Then i started the encode. The only problem is that vdub encodes with 3-4 fps which is horribly slow, so i want to ask is it normal? In megui i got 40-50 fps for the same file.

    thanks

  2. Shouldn't be that much of a difference

What else , what other operations are you doing in vdub ?

Are you using the same or very similar encoding settings ?

You don't need the ffmpeg plugin to open avs scripts in vdub - in fact it causes problems with avs scripts unless you open them with the AVI driver

  3. There can be a 100 fold difference in encoding speed with different encoder settings. If you don't use the same settings you shouldn't expect the same speed.
