Im trying to extract a DVD onto my network hard drive, so that I can stream it to my TV whenever I choose. I am slowly doing the same to others in my collection, but there are one or two that however I try they end up having huge black borders around them. this is the preview in AVS Video Converter and this is how it shows up on my 16:9 TV.

I had changed the output FRAME SIZE settings accordingly as per picture below but it still shows the output as being the same.

Im quite confused as to why it does this, as when I play the DVD on my PC it does not have these borders....
Am I doing things correctly in altering the frame size settings or have I totally missed the point. apologies for my lack of knowledge....

I don't use AVS Video Converter myself but I would be curious to see whats in the "Aspect Correction" tab I see
    on your screen-shot.

You do realize that by doing that conversion you are losing quality (both Video & Audio) in the re-encoding, and possibly enlarging the filesize (or conversely, NOT enlarging the filesize because of lower bitrate, but even further losing quality).

A good player & display system ought to correctly scale that for your TV anyway, without conversion & re-encoding.

Yes it lookslike it is the aspect. it looks like you don't have a 720x576 as your input shows. You actually have a 720x388 that someone has altered the aspects (DAR,PAR,SAR, etc.) and the black is actually part of the picture not bars like you'd expect.

You need to crop off the borders and resize it to what you want (shown is 16/9 but actually would be the 1.85)

The crop and resize settings and aspect I used are below.

The correct (for 1.78) would actually be crop 100x 48Y:
