Hi everybody!
Glad to be here! It's a really nice and interesting forum!
I'm a newbie about video editing and I was wondering if anyone could tell some hints for a conversion work I had to do...
All files have been processed from DVD5/9 to .mkv with MakeMKV.. (v_mpeg2) and now I've to convert them to h264. I'm using xmedia recode and I'd like to know the best settings for the conversion... I'd prefer quality rather than file dimension
Thanks in advance...
Here the media info of the mkv:

Are you going to edit the video? Then keep them in mpg/mpeg2 and edit it instead of reconverting first. You can try remux the mkv to mpg with xmedia recode (under video choose copy mode and under audio copy). Then import the mpgs in your editor.
Or else use Video->Rate control mode: Constant quality/quantizer encoding mode in Xmedia recode or use Vidcoder(high profile). Use a value around 20 or lower for even better quality(bigger file size).
