First post here
...am an occasional user of makemkv.
Via:
https://www.videohelp.com/software/MakeMKV
...I can download the latest version of makemkv (1.9.6).
My version (1.9.5) needs a new key...and 1.9.6 is available via videohelp.
Well...the link within [https://www.videohelp.com/software/MakeMKV] that describes how to get a working key for 1.9.6 (I think) is here:
http://www.makemkv.com/forum2/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=1053
...but the entire makemkv.com website is down (as of Oct 2 and 3)!?
Advice? Information? Help?
Thanks.

Download mirror Download3k EU is workingIt's not important the problem be solved, only that the blame for the mistake is assigned correctly -
Thanks for that. I've downloaded 1.9.6 from there...
The important part, though, is the registration key is found here, right?
http://www.makemkv.com/forum2/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=1053
...and that is not available, at least to me...because makemkv.com is not functioning. -

This is what I got from google cache:
The current beta key is
Code:
T-enjldn6xWuxoS7TOUjAWw_PfjImd1QBwqYUWkTjOJktyineQPA Vv2WB3t7LzYH2qLn
and is valid until end of November 2015. Please check back for updated key on this page.
works for me only if I back date to September (using 1.9.6) -
I have tried reloading 1.9.5 and using the beta code from defiancompliance's post. Back dated the computer to Sept. 1. Rechecked the computer's clock and date but still get the message that the evaluation period had expired. Has anyone actually gotten this to work. Back dating the computer is ok (didn't work for me) but be aware that triggered events, local email, and other time and date sensitive log files and other program related functions are at risk. Love this program, use it all the time and was planning on buying it when out of Beta.
Guess I'll have to be patient and wait for the web site to come back to life. -
Here's what I did.
-Uninstall previous version of makemkv.
-Install 1.9.6 (I got it from http://makemkv.en.lo4d.com/)
-Back date and use reg key provided
You can change the date back to current once the MakeMKV is ripping but you'll have to back date each time you run the app.
Hope this helps.Last edited by defiantcompliance; 3rd Oct 2015 at 17:38.

The same beta key that dcompliance dug out of google cache can be found here, too:
https://web.archive.org/web/20150905181436*/http://www.makemkv.com/forum2/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=1053
...I have 1.9.6 working, right now, using that key and running my computer at a date of Jan 1, 2015.
This is an unacceptable workaround, though... -
I tried the Google cache for the key page and got:
The current beta key is
T-enjldn6xWuxoS7TOUjAWw_PfjImd1QBwqYUWkTjOJktyineQPA Vv2WB3t7LzYH2qLn
and is valid until end of November 2015. Please check back for updated key on this page.
Haven't tried it yet... -
It's up now.
Just the main page though. -
Just joined to say thanks!
Set PC clock back to Jan 1st, uninstalled then reinstalled, and it worked like a charm.
Hopefully, things will get back to normal, but that worked in a pinch.
Thanks! -
Yes. The site is back.
My take on the down time is that they were changing hosts and the message applied that the DNS records were not fully updated. -
No, not really! Strange is that http://makemkv.com/ does work, but http://www.makemkv.com/ redirects me to http://www.makemkv.com/cgi-sys/defaultwebpage.cgi
AND pressing on Download on http://makemkv.com/ redirects me to http://www.makemkv.com/download/ which cannot be found.
STILL MAJOR problems. I already purchased it long time ago, I cannot really remember when it was, but I hope it is only the site which is having problems not the project itself. I really need MakeMKV and want it to be updated for future releases like support for UHD Blu-rays when it is time or anything else ...
PS: Do Chrome users know what http:// is? Can they see it? -
Works fine here. But only the home page. Not the download. I guess that pages are still being transferred to the new host.
If you are being directed to another page it is more than likely that your ISPs DNS server has not been updated for the new host.Last edited by DB83; 4th Oct 2015 at 05:38.

September's key: T-enjldn6xWuxoS7TOUjAWw_PfjImd1QBwqYUWkTjOJktyineQPA Vv2WB3t7LzYH2qLn
FYI The key listed for November's is the same key that was listed for September. So it would seem a new key is needed.
Set your system clock back to July and the program will work. I had to use an earlier version 1.9.5. 1.9.6 did not work for me. -

I was on makemkv.com forum pages about an hour before this post. Last time I check it was down again.
I'm using MakeMKV on Linux so I don't know how this will affect other OS's but I have gotten my installation working again. I never installed 1.9.6 so if you have the latest version installed uninstall and roll back to 1.9.5. I simply entered the latest beta key that is good untill the end of November 2015. No rolling back the system date. For me it just accepted the new beta key and I was off and running.

Version 1.9.7 released
http://www.makemkv.com/download/Setup_MakeMKV_v1.9.7.exe -
Using 1.9.6 simply reset your system clock to September 28. Other dates may or may not work. I've tried several dates prior to 9-28 but doesn't work.
The website is still having problems. A new version is shown (1.9.7) but my system security does not like it, so I won't download until it looks clean.
Anyway the clock reset works fine. -
Yup. Now it seems to be working again.
New key is posted...
... and works fine.Last edited by marina7; 4th Oct 2015 at 14:23.

met5: thanks as the website is still a bit wonky for me.
I might add, that when I copy and paste the blue letters in what you've written above the end-of-line break between '6e' and 'c7' appears as a space in the place within the application for the key. So be sure, where the key is entered, to delete the space! -
-
Yup. Seen it. No idea why. Basically you go by the beta key. The beta key is the expiration date. If you go to About MakeMKV it will say "This version expires" and it will probably say "Never" which is meaningless since when the beta key expires, the program expires.
Since the new key is up everything should be fine. So you can either download the latest 1.9.7 or use the beta key on a previous version. Looking the change history there doesn't seem to be a huge reason to update to 1.9.7. -
Site was up for me. http://www.makemkv.com/forum2/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=1053
New beta key is T-WegY@nIclSEBCHVOADrWoK4pQuS9_gAMX039prSeTphTriAyPb mnk14iu4JEgcMP1Q
Good through January apparently.
