  1. All of the sudden I'm getting 2 error messages that I've never seen before. Right when I try to launch TMPGEnc. I've never had this problem before.

First one says "Read error against address 0229DB4A" and the second "Run Time Error 216 at 0003D850

I was running version 2.52.xx. I deleted it and tried again. I defragged the hard drives and ran check disk. Rebooted and got the same errors. I downloaded version 2.53 and got the same error's.

These are coming before I can even run the program. I'm stumped. Can anyone offer some help?

I'm trying to encode MPEG1 VCD. My system is W2K pro. 2 hard drives, one for programs and one for DV files.

    Thank you

  2. I use W2kpro with service pack 2 and TMPGEnc 2.53 works fine (I am encoding a Red Dwark episode now). I fear your OS may be stuffed and need a reinstall (hope not).

  3. Hi Alenz,

I have v2.53 and get read errors all the time, at random points throughout the encoding process (Win XP). I don't get this with 2.52 however. It seems to be to do with any other form of IDE activity on the same channel as the target drive (screensaver, filemanager, etc). Even 2.52 falls over if I try to do anything else as a parallel actvity.

Very odd and annoying, but my workaround is to disable screensavers, power management etc, then process through the batch facility and have TMPenc turn off the puter when it's finished.

I don't think Its an OS problem as I have had it both sides of a complete XP reinstall (due to other problems with UDMA drivers).

  4. Hi

thanks for your replies and help. I'm inclined to doubt it's a fluke because it just started happening. Never had this problem before. But to tell the truth, now that I remember my Pinnacle/Adobe is not working right either. Capture is limited to 8 minutes again like in W98SE. I'm thinking the problem may be I addidentally installed a flash card reader software and it was the win98 driver. I didnh't realize it until it was too late. I thought I had remopved it but maybe it messed something up.

    I'll keep you informed.
