I was sent an instructional video file with the extension .qsv. Nothing I have (vlc, wmp, mpc, etc.) will play it. Can I convert it to a more 'compatible' format, and if so how? -thx

No instructions how to play it? Maybe it requires a special video player.

Have you tried open it with mediainfo and see if can see some video and audio header data?

I'd open the file in a hex editor to see if the "QIYI VIDEO" identifier is there.

It is from China and was in a .rar format. After extracting it there were 2 files. the .qsv (video) file and a .exe (player). The first thing I did was rename the files from Chinese characters to American characters. I am not comfortable with the player. I did install it and viewed the video. However, my computer didn't 'feel' right. I tried to uninstall the player with no luck so I did a system restore and all is well now. fyi/fwiw
