Hi guys, new to the forum. I'm trying to download (or at least screen capture) the video at this url: http://www.ceskatelevize.cz/sport/fotbal/sestrihy-evropske-ligy/321075-sestrih-a-ohlas...-dinamo-minsk/.

First of all, I need to use a Czech proxy to get past the first geoblock. However, while this initially seems promising, it then tells me there is an issue with streaming. Looking at Developer tools in Chrome shows that the .m3u8 has a 403, which I assume means that there is a geoblock in place for this as well, but my proxy can't do anything about it. Here's the .m3u8: http://80.188.78.178/atip/8c84d5c26fb4c242bc3c6261f4385a9d/1442646501369/61924494877073185-pc.m3u8

Does anyone have any ideas as to how to grab this video? Sorry if my terminology is off, I'm still a beginner. Thanks

  2. Hi LilWiz,

Unfortunately I couldn't find a working Czech proxy that would let me play any of the videos on that site but I have some suggestions.

Install the Firefox add-on "Video Download Helper". Play the stream you want and see if that add-on shows something like the following while the stream is playing:
    Name: peri1.PNG
Views: 2118
Size: 1.6 KB

If so, click the down arrow to the right of the black circle and look at the the options ("All actions") to see if one of them says "record" (you might have to wait a few seconds for the Add-on to detect the stream. Also take a look at any options you get when clicking on the 3 coloured circles; one of them might be "Download". It rather deepends on whether you are viewing a live stream or a pre-recorded one.

Second idea: Install the 30 day trial version of "Internet Download Manager". It's generally excellent at grabbing most things. An option to download should appear just above the video that's playing.

Third, Install the Firefox add-on "User Agent Switcher" and select "iPhone" from it's list of options, then in Firefox > Tools > Add-ons > Plugins set Flash to "Never Activate". Now visit your site and see if either "Video Download Helper" or "Internet Download Manager" show any download or record options. You can of course try them both without the User Agent/Flash changes first as they might work without it.

    Good luck.

Thanks for the tips. Unfortunately I had no luck. The user agent switcher is a good tool so thanks for showing me that. When I viewed the mobile page I was unable to grab the video, with "errorURL" being a keyword, such as the name of the file if I attempted to right click and save the video. It also appeared in the page source.

So I'm still having no luck.

  4. You might give livestreamer a try, assuming you can find a Czech proxy address that works (I still can't).

    Something along the lines of:

    Code:
    livestreamer --http-proxy "http://84.38.176.211:8080" "hlsvariant://http://80.188.78.178/atip/8c84d5c26fb4c242bc3c6261f4385a9d/1442646501369/61924494877073185-pc.m3u8" best -o video.ts
The proxy in the code above doesn't work, obviously. Also, check that the link to the m3u8 playlist is static, not dynamic, i.e. it doesn't change each time you revisit the original link at http://www.ceskatelevize.cz/sport/fotbal/sestrihy-evropske-ligy/321075-sestrih-a-ohlas...-dinamo-minsk/
