  1. I have a problem when I'm trying to get subtitles to Spiderman.

First I converted the .sub-file to a .srt-file, and after that the -srt to a .ssa-file.
Then you open the .ssa-file in Virtual Dub and then you press ' Preview'.

Do you have to watch the whole preview, to get it right ??
Then you get a .vdr-file, which you are suppossed to open in TMPGEnc.
My .vdr-file is just 52 bytes. Is that right ??

But I can't open the .vdr-file in TMPGEnc, and I've pasted the "msvcr70.dll" in Windows/system32 and even tried Windows/system.

Despite these attempts, it says "file unsupported or unable to open", or something like that. I want it to work, would appreciate any help I can get.

Is the guide just out dated or did I misunderstand something because I was goin nuts trying to figure out how to frameserver from VirtualDub to TMPGEnc until I finally tried naming the file video.vdr and choosing All files from the Files of type drop down in TMPGEnc, instead of naming the file video.vdr.avi.

Nevermind, the guide is wrong or outdated, I didn't see page 2 of this thread before I posted this.

  5. Im removing this stupid logo this idot has put in a movie...you know how people put it in the corner or somewhere on the side well this idiot apparently put 3 yes 3 of his e mail addresses right in the middle of the damn screen good thing it is the opening credits and I can fix it. I used the Logo filter for Virtual Dub loaded up the black bar blah blah blah and when I frameserve it seem to freeze up or something..because in the frame serving window it the audio video frames served it says 0 and it' seems to freeze up or something...I installed the .dll file in my System32 but it still seems to be frozen..honestly I only read a couple of posts in here and skipped to the end because you guys were talkin about Audio so what do I do...help.. !

    To lazy..

Well, you should read the whole thread...

The Logo filter was created to add a logo. To remove a logo you should try logoaway or Delogo. It is necessary to read the dokumentation, because it is not that easy, sorry.

  7. Yes I have the one with the black bar is used to conceal the logo..don't know which one though...I guess Im just gonna to read it...

Why use frameserving to add you sub???

The first time i tried to make my subs, I also did it with Frameserving.

Accidently i found another (for me an easier) way to attach the sub to the mpegs.

When i just play my movies i let DirectVobSub (2.23) take care of the .SRT/.SUB subs.

But even when i encode an avi to mpeg DirectVobsub projects the subs to the video.

So when you encode with TMPG, while just having a SRT-file with the right name in the right directory, you will get a mpeg movie WITH THE SUB!, if you have DirectVobSub installed

I like it better than frameserving, cuz its easier, and when you are frameserving you can't let tmpg shutdown your comp.

@ Stalf Rams, well it works that way, I have tested it before, but it is a very experimental method, because it depends on the other direct show filters, that one have installed.
Often there is a filter conflict and the method does not work.
Also it might be much more difficult to adjust the subtitles as position, color or font face.
btw, it is possible to let tmpg shutdown your comp after encoding when you are frameserving.

  10. Well i didn't frameserve instead I made the logo blend in and save As AVi in Full Processing mode using one ofthe codecs for compression as well. Worked like a charm.

  12. mor666 you are right I worked very hard to find out why I couldn't framserving and got to the conclusion that it has a problem with some XVID files. now I am looking for a solution for that. any body?[/quote]

  15. Hi more666!

I hade the same problem. I' m sorry for my bad English.

I method: In this case, when I recive this message"file can not open or supported" in TMPGEnc I choose in field for video another file with *.avi and when the program open it, I choose file *.vdr and now all is OK.

II method: In VirtualDub I start frameserve with VCM mode and all is OK.

  20. Okay, I tried all of this, including uninstalling VirtualDub 1.41 and installing 1.54 and I get the same error when I click Start, "The error occurred when ACM was initialized." Then another box comes up saying, "Illegal floating decimal point calculation order." Does anyone have any ideas on this?

  21. Acutally, decompress your audio to a WAV, and use that as the audio source. Load that into VDub as the audio source, and frameserve it like that. Should work.

  22. By the way, Funkyguy4,
I got them (most of them) to play in my other players besides DiVX 2.1 by, and this is odd, installing the xvid codec (Koepp's) and that didn't work, so I uninstalled it. Then I could view them. Weird, huh? For my main codec pack, I have the SLD Codec pack installed. But, even though, I can play the files in Winamp, PicaView and so forth (all except one, so far - ???), they still won't open in TMPGEnc, saying that it is unsupported. That's kinda frustrating. Plus, I still get the same error when ACM initializes as before when I try to frameserve.

  23. It's looking for the Lame MP3 ACM decompressor, but for some reason myine doesn't find it either. Just decompress to WAV using VirtualDub and use that as the audio source. It has nothing to do with the video.

  24. I just tried this and it seems to be working. I used the wav file as the audio source in TMPG and not in VirtualDub, as I thought you were saying. It's running tooLAME now. So, if it gets to the video with no problems then, "BOOM, BABY!" Thanks for all your help. It's still very odd that I got the video to play in my other players, but TMPG won't open though.

  25. Glad to see it's working, and that YOU FINALLY LISTENED! As for which way to send TMPGEnc the WAV, you can either load it in TMPGEnc directly or simultaneously framserve the audio and video, since it works the same.

  26. I actually did try to frameserve the audio wav and video first but it wasn't working. It only worked after I used the wav directly in TMPG. That's where I was confused, but I did listen. :P
