  1. Hi, I just ripped Amores Perros with English subtitle yesterday, no problem at all.
I am using Virtualdub 1.4.9 and Tmpgenc 2.54. I run Windows XP, just
followed the guide and make sure to turn on and off the proxy properly.

  2. From www.virtualdub.org:

BUG: Frameserver libraries fail to load due to missing MSVCR70.DLL 1.4.10 (13870) not yet fixed

Symptoms: Frameserving does not work in 1.4.10, because the requisite libraries fail to load.

Cause: The 1.4.10 frameserver libraries were inadvertently shipped linked against the Visual Studio .NET (VC7) run-time library; this was a mistake. VirtualDub itself still runs because it was compiled with Visual C++ 6.0 as intended. Visual C++ 6.0 will continue to be the target compiler for the 1.4 series, and as such the MSVCR70.DLL libraries will not be provided.

Workaround: Install the frameserver libraries from 1.4.9, which are properly linked with the VC6 CRT. There have been no changes to the frameserver libraries in 1.4.10 -- the code is exactly the same and will work fine with 1.4.10 acting as server.

  3. i copied the MSVCR70.DLL into the desiered dir, because my CCE 2.5 asked for that.

from this point on the frameserving with version .10 of virtual dub works fine, but only with TMPG.

everytime when I try to add the movie.vdr or movie.vdr.avi to CCE, the program terminates, without any comment.

the proxe mode didnt cured this problem.

is anyone able to help, because i want to use Virtual dub with CCE together.

    thx m0s

I´m having a problem with the frameserver. After doing all the procedures described in this site, when I launch the TMPGEnc it hangs. I´ve tried both launching a second session as well as the CTRL-ALT-DEL path, and none seem to work. I´m using the 1.4.10 version of Virtualdub, and the 2.57.41.146 version of TMPGEnc, WIN XP.

I also installed the mscvr70.dll or whatever name of the file is, and no solution. Tried also the "proxy on" feature, and none.

Any ideas on how to correct this problem?

  5. Hi!
I've been trying to frameserve from Virtual Dub to TMPGEnc for 3 weeks and it semms to be imposible. I've read millions of guides and tryed whatever people suggested. I tryed with VirtualDub 1.4.10, VirtualDub 1.4.9, TMPGEnc 2.53 plus, 2.56 plus, 12a, 12c, etc... I downloaded some dll's and I don't know what else that where supposed to let TMPGEnc read *.vdr and *.avs (or some file of AVISinth). Nothing worked. I also installed msvcr70.dll and nothing.
    I tryed all this things in 2 pc's: a PII 233, 128mb, W98SE, and a AMD K6-2 500, 64MB, W98SE...
PLEASE, somebody help me....I just want to have my Spanish subtitled VCD's recorded and play them on (in?) a DVD Player.
Sorry if I made to many spelling/grammar mistakes. Thanks from Argentina...

  6. Hey everyone,

I'm a Win98 SE user and using the msvcr70.dll does indeed work for Vdub 1.4.10 if it is installed in the system32 directory. I'm very glad that it did too.

    Hey all!

If someone of you had this problem, tried all the solutions and nothing seems to work, try this: (tried on XP and worked just fine)

Create a new user, (I created as an administrator, dont know if that issue has anything to do with it, but do it just like I did) and then copy both the virtual dub as well as the TMPGEnc, and run both progras as described in the guide in the session of this new user you just created.

This was the only way I found to make this work, I tried all of the other recommendations and nothing seemed to work.

Once it works, it´s a beauty!

Now just something else: every time I playback some SVCDs created this way, some of them halts.... I´m suspecting it might be NERO..... any ideas?

  8. Hi all!
I have problem too with my Virtualdub frameserving to TEMPGEnc.
I tryed to put the msvcr70.dll file in system32 and tryed again.
It resulted in that I now can select the .vdr file as a video source but not as audio source. When i try to use the .vdr file as a audio source it says that the file cannot be opened or unsupported.
I´m a newbie so I don´t know so much about these things.
Anyway, now i can select the .vdr file as a video source but not as audio in TMPEGEnc.
Can someone help me, so that i can select the .vdr file as an audiosource too?
    Please.

Wow, an old post coming back. It's good to see people using the search engine.

I suspect that you're frameserving .MP3 to Tmpgenc as your audio source. It won't recognize it. Change the audio to uncompressed. If it's not .MP3, then I suspect you don't have the proper audio codec installed.

    Good luck!!!!!!

  10. You should select the .wav file as your audio source. If you don't have it, it is better to extract is from the .avi in Vdub. See guide for how to do it.

  11. Hi!
    Thanks for helping me out!
I´m not using .mp3. I did like this:
I opened the movie in virtulab, I put the subtitles onto place and then started to frameserve and then the .vdr file was created. It workes like video source but not for audio.
I´m a newbie, and you said that I don´t have the right audio codec maybe, which codec should i use and how do i do?
I have tryed to make the sound to a wav file as it says in the guide , but then Vdub gives me an error-mesage that goes something like:

"The requested audio compression is not compatible with the input format.
Check that the sampling rate and channel count of the input match those of the requested format."

    Please help me.

  12. I tried using the frameserver with CCE but all I was getting was "This is not an AVI file" (or something similar). I've tried rebooting, using the proxy*.reg files, and a lot of stuff.. no luck.. It DOES work fine with TMPGEnc though, that's the weird thing... Is there anything special I have to do to get it to work with CCE?

And yes, I have the msvcr*.dll files in %winroot%\system32

    (Windows2000sr2, VirtualDub 1.4.9 (also tried .10), CCE 2.62.01.01 (demo), TMPGEnc 2.55.38.142)

    hi to all

well i found out why do it an have done it before with vdub. i then started posting my problems with frameserving and a friendy person gave me some help and told me about this forum topic. i have vdub 1.4.10 and it is not working. if you want to look at what i was doing to try and fix it you should look at the other topic. sory i dont know how to link yet.

well i have looked over this topic and have done everything sugested but i have still no luck. i am useing win98SE also and am haveing the "unsupported file" error

i have downloaded the DLL and put it into syster32, then reset my computer. but still no luck.

  14. You audio is probably an AC3 file, use direct stream copy in Vdub, and process the .ac3 file using Headac3he. Search the forum for the guide on how to extract ac3 file.

  15. Hi, I would like to stop by and say to whoever wrote the guide at http://www.vcdhelp.com/virtualdubframeserve.htm has one little mistake. You see, I followed the guide step-by-step and at the end, I couldn't get Virtualdub to frameserve into Tmpeg. I read all the post in this topic area and followed each and everybody's advice but still I couldn't get frameserving to work. Everytime I tried to do it, I get an error saying "File c:\capture\video.vdr.avi can not open, or unsupported". I tried everything from uninstalling Virtualdub 1.4.10 and installing 1.4.9 and installing the Handler from 1.4.9 but still nothing. I even change in VFAPI plugin the priority level for "Directshow..." to highest and nothing. I even downloaded MSVCR70.dll into windows\system32 but still gave me that error. I changed everything back to the way it was in Tmpeg, uninstall 1.4.9 with removing the handler and installed 1.4.10 again. Then I decided to try one last thing. Instead of putting "video.vdr.avi", I put "video.avi.vdr" and what do you know, that sucker worked. Tmpeg recognized the file and now I'm able to frameserve. For a newbie, I was about to go crazy!!!

If anybody out there is still having trouble, maybe reading this will help, but I not sure since it worked for me. I am running Win98se PIII 800, 128mb RAM, AIW Radeon 7500, 20GB Hard drive, and Virtualdub 1.4.10 is running good now that I fixed that problem with Tmpeg.

  17. Hey, no problem... Glad I could be of an assistence... I almost gave up myself but when I'm determined to do something, you betcha I'm gonna keep on trying until I go crazy..

Well, I hope my experience will also benefit other people with similar problem... I the thing that bothered me the most is that no other people seemed to catch this small thing... maybe the file name "video.vdr.avi" worked for them????? But all I know I got lucky just changing the extension around to "video.avi.vdr". Oh well, at least I'm sane again hehehehe....

Now I'm making perfect (well not perfect) but OK recording from my TV tuner card....

I've been reading post after post and so far I've read more than 100 messages and I get headaches with all the information and data running around my head on vdub, tmpeg, vcd, svcd, problems, not working, need help.... accckkkkk.......need to dump them out of my head....Hey don't worry about me, I'm OK.

    Windows 98 SE.

    Copied over MSVCDR70.DLL, no change.

    Installed 1.4.09 handler, no change.

    Changed DirectShow priority, no change.

The thing that finally did it for me was turning the AVI Proxy that comes with VD on just before trying to load the FILENAME.VDR.AVI dummy file.

  19. I read a lot of posts about this topic but I couldn't figure out why I succeeded to frameserve 3 days ago, and now I couldn't. Suddenly I had the same problem that a vdr file is not recognized in TMPGenc.....

In my case it has to do with the movie..I tried two others and had no problems, but only with this one ( le fabuleux destin d'Amelie Poulain) it seems impossible.. But why, it's seems to have the same compression as the others....??

  20. i followed the steps southside97 had, but i have no luck with frameserving
i tried what Teshia did, but no luck either.

It keeps saying File c:\.......vdr.avi can not open, or unsupported

i tried opening .vdr, .avi.vdr, .vdr.avi files but still with no luck

    Anyone have any ideas?

Hi I have a problem with the Virtual Dub 1.4.11. the problem is that I can´t frameserve at all, it just won´t start... I have tried everything that the forum brings up but it doesn´t matter..the only thing that happens is that the box with stop serving comes up and a small file about 38 bytes is being created. Is there another way to add subtitles without frame serving?

The only thing you have to do is to let the frameserving box be and then open TMPGEnc. The file you load into this program is the small file you created earlier and stilling being processed in the frameserving. When you then start the encoding, the frameserving box will start displaying the frames being sent over to TMPGEnc

The frameserving serves as a linked between the two programs.

I hope I made my self clear because I´m not an expert on this either...

    /Sune
