  1. So let's say I have a video file, and I have made a lot of edits where there are fade ins and fade outs by splitting it.
Now I want to add a logo that fades in and out in sync with this.

Is there a way to save my time from the tedious idea of dropping the png watermark and splitting it + adding the fade in/out transitions in sync with my video?
I feel like this is an obvious thing and there should be a way to save yourself from having to repeat the same automations and splits just to add a watermark/logo.

    Thanks

  2. This is the kind of task that seems insurmountably huge when you first look at it -- but if you actually just get in there and do it (manually) it really doesn't take very long.

You could probably do it via a script that adds fade-in / fade-out to all selected clips in the timeline. There may already be such scripts out there just a search away.......

I know, but it seems obivous as if there should be something to do it automatically.

What about clonning the channel (or whatever is called) of your video with all the splits and automations of fade in fade outs and then replacign the video with the still logo/watermark and putting it on top on the timeline? can you do this?

Here is a script that will add a 1 sec fade-in and fade-out to any selected clip. As it is written, you can only do one clip at a time. You can probably edit it do do multiple clips at once. I have no interest in such script, so I won't attempt making the edits, it should be doable though....

Change the extension to .js and put it in your "Script Menu" folder. You can create a shortcut button to the script in the Vegas Toolbar for quick access.

  6. It depends how you have the project structured, how you did the fades (did you do it on the same track to each event with a fade in/out offset? or did you control opacity through mattes , or maybe video envelope ?), but you can probably use the replace function . (right click the clip in the project media bin, select replace) . If your main media is just 1 video, it should work, but if you have many clips in the project, this won't work.

Save your project first. Use the replace function and replace the main video with a video of the logo/overlay/watermark of the same FPS/duration/dimensions. - it will keep the same edits and transitions. Save project with a new name. Render the transparent overlay out and overlay it back onto the original project. Another way you might be able to do it is "nest" veggies (file=>import and select your 2nd project file) - so you don't have to physically render out the 2nd project (to vegas in the 1st project, the 2nd project "looks" like a video)
