  1. Hi, so say I want to record League of Leguends gameplay at 1080p and save locally. Im using OBS because Bandicam for some reason crashes when I choose H264 or X264, so I wouldn need to record in XVid but I think it's not worth it in 2015 when 264 makes videos look better and weight less as far as I know (even if Youtube re-compresses it i've seen some tests and 264 looked better).

Anyway I have configured it for high settings following this video (I have selected 60 fps tho because now Youtube supports it and this video is from 2014)

But then I realized my monitor is 16:10 so my max resolution is 1680x1050

My question is if through some magic rescaling stuff I could get away with recording the video in 1080p with good resolution, or is better that I stay at 720p until I can afford a new monitor that supports 1080p?

My GPU is an AMD HD7850 the Twin Fozr one by MSI, it's pretty decent. I have been told it has some magic stuff called dynamic resolution that would allow for this but im not sure. Also I want to record the gameplay as smooth as possible ideally at 60fps so im scared such method would take extra performance making the game not as smooth.

I could record at my native 1680x1050 res and then reescale it but im sure it will screw up the aspect ratio or something so I would rather have 720p with 1:1 image aspect ratio... I can't do much more cause I can't afford buying a new monitor. I should have bought a 16:9 back then but I wanted 120hz and the Samsung 2233rz was the only one that had it back then.

    Thanks

Unless I'm mistaken, it will record at whatever resolution you have the game set. So if you have the game set to 1920x1080, it should record that resolution.

You can't set your game resolution to 1920x1080 if your monitor only goes up to 1680x1050 unless your monitor lets it overscan.
