    question about this software.

If I want to encode my collection of DVDs 720x480 interlaced. What would be the best settings the a progressive encoding ? ( keep in mind I want a perfect replica of the dvds with a smooth videos in motion action scene)

What the best deinterlaced mode ? And method? And settings ?

    Thanks for your help

Your typing is confusing -- but if you want a perfect replica and smooth motion, don't deinterlace. Use something like TMPGenc Smart Renderer to make any edits you want and keep the video as (mostly) untouched mpeg2.

smrpix is correct and made a good suggestion, but suspects you might be confused. IMO you are seriously confused. You want to "encode" your DVD's? DVD's are already encoded. What do you think DVD is, videotape? Maybe you could be more clear about what you want. Do you mean "re-encode"? Why? DVD is either interlaced or telecined, 29.97fps.

If you plan to deinterlace all your DVDs and double the frame rate, you obviously don't want DVD for output. But you don't say what format you want for your 59.976fps progressive output. It won't be valid for DVD, and as smrpix noted you'll degrade motion rendering.

The best deinterlacer is QTGMC. There's no argument about that. There is no "almost as good". QTGMC is it. Best. Period. Get it here: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=156028. If your DVD's are movie-based telecine, you can forget about deintelacing. It won't work.

unless you are Editing something out of the DVD
you don't do anything, except copy it to another disc or your Hard Drive, using something like DVDfab9

if you want to convert it to another format, like mp4
you RIP it, (aka copy to HD) , then convert it
