  1. I reinstalled Windows 8 and now Movie Studio won't run after installation. The default activation server always failed for me, but in the past it would run after I used an alternative activation method using an optional code. Now it just won't run after I entered it, and nothing happens.

I'm thinking maybe I need to get a new version of Movie Studio, but I'm not sure if the registration process will work better if I do. One might assume that newer versions would be better supported and compatible with modern Windows, but it might fail on me again. My main considerations now are Vegas Movie Studio 13 Platinum, and Pinnacle Studio 17. Any suggestions?

...I'm going to check with customer service if it's a registration issue.

  2. Try the platinum version of Movie Studio 13. Just try it and see if it will work for you. I found it to be pretty stable on my old (5 yrs) laptop.

  3. It was a license limit issue. Resetting the limit with customer service allowed the program to register and run.
