i hope this is a proper forum for this codecs question.

recently i installed K-lite codecs because it was recommended on some forum and i thought my existing codecs were outdated.
but LAV video decoder made some video software on my PC unusable: https://forum.videohelp.com/threads/373844-NeroVisionExpress-recent-problems-after-new-...ftware-install

i fixed part of that by unchecking the huffyuv in LAV video decoder.
why do i need that LAV video decoder? is it safe to uninstall the whole K-lite codec thing (i remember it removed/disabled some older existing codecs on install)?

    thanks!

  2. LAV filters are already integrated in MPC-HC and covers all "necessary" codecs. No need for K-Lite Codec Packs. Only a mess after some time.
If you use MPC-BE you can but don't have to install LAV Filters and register them as external ones.

K-Lite is a villain. Stay away from it, and avoid forums that recommend it.

to clarify, the LAV video decoder and Media-Player-Classic-Home-Cinema came WITH K-Lite.
so again, why do i need them?

  5. K-Lite is a codec pack which is packed with various tools. And one of the tools in the huge pack is MPC-HC.
Official site of the project is:
    https://mpc-hc.org/
Nightly Builds can be downloaded here:
    https://nightly.mpc-hc.org/

MPC-HC project is an independent project. No K-Lite here.
Don't use K-Lite. It will ruin your pc.

Nobody here said you needed them. K-Lite is always bad news and never recommended here.
