  1. hello everyone,
In a quick way I will explain my situation
Today I formatted my old PC and reinstalled windows XP since it's the operating system I had been using to capture.
The driver IEEE 1394 is installed. I have firewire cable. My camera is Sony DCR-HC52E. I used to use WinDV 123 for the capturing.

I'm connecting my firewire to the camcorder + to its port on the desktop and nothing is appearing over my screen.
I opened the WinDV 123 software it shows a status of "no device recognized".
On my camcorder when I open my small screen it shows "DV in" which says that a firewire is connected.

Before formatting my PC, I had bought a small device called AV GRABBER so that I do the transfer from my camera on my laptop (not desktop) I faced several problems... It was capturing under NTSC and not PAL ... The video and audio were out of sync... That's why I'm back to my old desktop...
I appreciate any help because I have a dozen of tapes that I would like to transfer.
    Thanks in advance.

the firewire port in the camera should be set to dv-out. start windv start cam plug in firewire cable. if no connection try a different cable.

I never changed any settings from my camera so I is still as it was when I used to do the capturing
so could it be from the cable?
    Thanks though
