  1. A DVD authoring company a while ago mentioned to me that they run their DVD image files through some software that ensures it is compatible with 99% of DVD players. Does anyone know what software this might be?

    Nope.

    But are you going to burn your dvds yourself on dvd-r/dvd+r? Then can't you get any 99% compatibility.

  3. Philips has released the "Philips DVD Verifier" in the professional world, but it is extremely expensive and it has a lot of bugs and crashes often. Furthermore, due to discrepancies in the DVD specifications, it is impossible to obtain a "perfect DVD", and the verifier triggers always a lot of errors, especially when the DVD is in PAL. I don't recommend to use it, even if you can obtain a free copy.
