I'm new to this website but I have been ripping my DVD collection for a while. I am looking for the best quality ripper there is. I want my .mp4 to be as clear is if I am playing the DVD. I am not concerned with file size. If anyone has any ideas please let me know. I am using my Dell XPS desktop running iTunes so the file must be iTunes compatible.

I have been primarily using Aimersoft DVD Ripper but also have WinX DVD Ripper. Some DVDs rip very poorly. I have attached an image that shows that the video is not clear but has lines that are very evident Click image for larger version

    Any ideas are welcome.

  2. If you don't really need MP4 you can can just remux to MPG files with VOB2MPG. If you must have MP4 files ffmpeg can remux from MPG (or VOB) to MP4 with a command line like:

    Code:
ffmpeg -i filename.mpg -vcodec copy -acodec copy filename.mp4
There will be no change of quality but only a slight reduction in file size.

A dvd isn't mp4. Your asking for a ripper that means you want to rip to a hard drive, Then I would use AnyDVD or DVDFab to rip with, Then you would have to use a different program to convert to mp4.

  4. Rip your DVDs using DVDFab HD Decrypter (main movie mode), its free...then load the resulting VOB files into handbrake or simmilar programs like Vidcoder, Mediacoder, XMedia Recode, TEncoder, etc... they offer several parameters for you to control the outputīs quality. A simpler alternative is Freemake converter, it īs simpler but remember, itīs adware so be careful installing it, avoid accepting other programs or toolbars itīll try to make you install.

They will all have problems with early seasons of South Park. The episodes started as film, they were then telecined, then edited and effects added as interlaced video. If the OP want's smaller files with progressive frames the only good way to handle this is with AviSynth. QTGMC() with some tweaking and encoding at 59.94 fps.

If you don't need mp4 use MakeMkv it will rip to mky container with no re encoding so it has original quality.
