specs: dell laptop, windows 7 home premium, 64bit
I've been searching but not finding anything that works.
So far, I've downloaded:
* 1200ub_9xzip (but the install failes, not a valid 32/64bit driver for my windows home premium)
* vuex6495.exe (but after the installation and I run the app, the software says it can't locate the driver for this scanner)
Thanks in advanced.

not gonna happen. the last driver released for the Mustek 1200 UB Plus was for Windows 98 / ME / 2000 / XP.

you are correct. I just found this one (tried both listed in the tree -- xp version) and it would not install.

I guess I'll have to connect it to my desktop xp then. Thanks. -
I need a flat bed scanner for sensitive papers. ie, my birth certificate will tare if i run it through any of my sheet feed scanners.
I guess I will head over to staples tomorrow and pick up a newer model. I don't think I will need a real high quality, though it wouldn't hurt -- if the price is right. -
i use an epson flatbed v30 with an led lightsource. cheap fast and works.

Well, I tried those windows xp drivers on my desktop xp but the drivers would not work either.
I keep getting the "system DLLs corrupt or missing" error message. Anyway.
While cleaning around in my apt last week, I was sure I had the original Mustek 1200 UB driver cd and stashed it in a box somewhere. And I do remember the scanner being pretty slow at scanning a page, about 40 seconds or so. But I think I will go with a newer generation (faster) flatbed scanner, though it would be nice if I can get this old one up and working again. -
The all in one printers do a decent job of scanning. Most cost about the same or less then a dedicated scanner.

update.. After careful research, I ended up getting the Epson Perfection V39 flatbed scanner at Staples.

I could have gotten it $20 cheaper online but I didn't want to wait this time. Anyway.
I've been testing it out. Its not all that bad for a casual scanner. Scanning speed is about 12 seconds per page though in a review I read, it stated 5 PPM. So, that's about right I think. And there are other factors to the scanning process that would bring that number lower. But for basic manual scanning, 5 PPM is ok. Although I don't know why it says 4800 dpi when the max I could get in some of the different scan settings I tried were 1200 dpi. Anyway. So far so good.
