Hey, I'm capturing AVIs (for output to VCD, but this doesn't matter) and when I do, even if I capture the sound and video seperately, they begin to slip out of sync. The sync is perfect for the first few minutes but gradually it begins to slip out.

Does anyone know how to fix this problem? It's one of the most annoying ones ever.

  3. If you're using VirtualDub, do the following:

    DO NOT capture compressed audio.

    Use PCM, 44khz, 16bits, stereo.

Change the audio buffer size in "capture>settings" to 17640.

  4. If the audio goes out of sinc over an extended period of recording, you may want to check your framerate. If you are recording at 30 fps instead of 29.97 fps, your audio will record .03 frames slower per second. In a long capture, this can result in a big difference.

    All the best!

  5. There is a Vdub version with a modified capture routine which helped a lot of PAL guys. See more details here, maybe it works with NTSC as well:

Okay, usually what I do is record the audio and video seperately then use VDub to put them together. For me VirtualDub doesn't do anything with sound - do I have to enable it somehow?

    Thanks for all the help.

  7. Vdub captures sound by default. You could check the Audio Compression mode and change the codec. But maybe your problem is related to cabling (is your capture card line-out connected to sound card line-in?) or wrong mixer settings. Can you capture video and sound with other applications?

OK, my capture card doesn't actually have a line out. I usually record the sound by setting the TV software to the RF channel that the VCR is on (yes, RF  ) and record the sound by using WaveStudio.
