    hello,
both the dvd and the dvd rip do this, it starts by playing the movie, then it will go to the menu after its done not letting you press menu and go there first.
i have tried googling this problem and have not come up with the same problem.
before downloading a bunch of dvd/movie editings programs i was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction.

    thanks

  2. PGCEdit is the tool and there are a couple of guides for doing what you want:

    http://jean.laroche.free.fr/Jumping0.4.3.1/index.html

    http://download.videohelp.com/r0lZ/pgcedit/third_party/blutach/How_to_use_PgcEdit_new_macro.htm

You turn on the Trace and trace to the menu after the movie. You set a Pre/Post Breakpoint and run the trace again until you get to the Menu. At that point you go PGC->Jump To PGC Upon Insert. There's no longer a 'Macros' button as in those older guides. Save your work, test it out and then burn to disc. If something screws up, PGCEdit has saved the original IFOs so you can load them and start over.

read the guides, followed your instructions, traced again and it started at the main menu, saved it, but then it still played the movie first when i tested ;/

  4. You followed the guides' instructions? My main point is that when the guides were written there was a Macros button which was later replaced by the PGC button up at the top.

Again, trace through the movie to the menu and set a breakpoint. Begin the trace for a second time and trace through to the menu again. At that point make it 'Jump To PGC Upon Insert'. Were there any warnings or suggestions about how to do something? Save it and test. You can test by tracing and it should go to the menu first. Then you can also test with a software DVD player, one such as MPC-HC. (I don't trust VLC for such things). And if it works in software, delete the saved PGCEdit backup folder and burn to disc. Many many people have done such things many many times without problems.

From what I can tell, this may only be a "problem" for you: the originators of the DVD may have intended the navigation to work that way. In fact, that's how many "intro video" clips are set up.

This is a navigational item known as "First Play" which does just that.

Load title in pgcedit then > info > dvd commands > save and upload for checking for navigational defects.
