  1. Hi,

I am trying to embed a closed caption (SCC) file into a video file and hitting on some problems.

Please suggest how to embed SCC closed caption file into a video file mov/mp4/mpg

Does FFMPEG support closed captions - scc files as input ?
Which open source tools can I use to do the above task ?

    Thanks

I remember that some DVD authoring tools may support them as "Line 21" for NTSC material only. I believe they are not exactly "in the video stream", but rather in parallel to it.

    Maybe Open Broadcast Encoder?

DVD closed captions are stored in the GOP user data. There are no freeware DVD authoring software that can convert SCC subtitles to closed captions, but there are two or three paid DVD authoring programs which are able to do it.

I'm working with the developer of Subtitle Edit at the moment, trying to get him to output 608 captions in a format that can be imported using mp4box.

I don't know how long it will take though before it's ready.
