Sorry I wasn't sure if I should post in the Audio, or play safe and post it as off-topic, I'm interpreting the Audio section for people with Audio editing issues.

I have an old Sanyo Hi-Fi System from 1994 & unfortunately I cannot find the blasted manual for it.

My problem is I want to play back DVDs & music through it using the Phono setting, which has 2xRCA like plugs in the back, there's also a silver screw which presumably is some sort of GND connection. Unfortunately while cables these days make it possible, I was wondering if I could get something to prevent blowing the amplifier apart, which was obviously meant for Turntable.

Phono input has two issues a possible lower signal level compared to line level and the RIAA equalization applied to that input. Not worth the effort in my opinion. I would use the tape, tuner or axillary inputs instead. All are very likely to be line level and compatible with a line level source like your dvd player.

Thanks for your feedback. It appears I'll have to ditch the idea anyway and stick with the Computer Speakers I've got. Unfortunately my Hi-Fi in question only has Phono inputs, guess it would make it a semi-mini-Hi-Fi system.

Well I've come up with a workable solution. I've taken an old walkman, got a Cassette Adaptor for it, so now I can add the cable from the DVD to the Cassette Adaptor, and control the volume through the walkman to something acceptable for the phono setting on my Hi-Fi.
