Please Note: The original 25 minute Video has been deleted and replaced with this new version, new link is just below.
Hi everyone, well as some of you may be aware, i recently shot a Video at a local Car & Bike show where i live, and i have finally completed editing and sorted out the Music track, and i have now uploaded this into a new Youtube Channel.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Tehr05S1IM
This is the 15 minute Photo Slideshow video of the same event, with the same music.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Z3xebSIErE
Now that the videos are up and running, i have now been asked to remove the music tracks, or file a dispute over copyright infringement, so i will file a dispute, as i am not going to remove the music until i see what they do.
As you can probably tell, the video was shot entirely in hand held roaming mode with the camera mounted on one of my custom made Rigs (see images below)
The video was shot in 1080/50p avchd @ 26Mbps using one of my SDT750 Cams (i love these cams for roaming video and traveling) with Auto Focus and Image Stabilization both turned on, and my editing was done using VRD Pro, and Audacity was used to very quickly create the single Music track to add to the video.
The Video ReDo editing software does not do Slideshows, nor does it allow us to do things like Fade in or Fade out overlay transitions like other software does, so my Slideshows are created using Movie Maker 2012, with a mild 2 second Fade down transition, along with a Zoom In animation applied to each photo.
The Music track is also added to the Slideshow in Movie Maker and output to 1080/25p, then taken into VRD to add my solid Title and credit, which i then smart render back tto 1080/25p.
This is my very first go at adding music to my videos, usually with all my videos i do a running commentary from behind the camera, but this car show was held inside a big concrete building with a tin roof, there was 50's & 60's rock music being played in a juke box at one end, and people talking on Mics at the other, all of which made it impossible for me to record my commentary properly.
The Music was a selection of tracks by "The Ventures" taken from an album titled "Walk Don't Run" which i have to thank Brainiac for suggesting this band in my other thread, it turned out to be a good option given that i was able to cut the required tracks from the one album in Audacity to fit the video without too much processing involved, saving me a lot of time by not having to look for several individual tracks and have to create the audio track from those using Audacity.
The video was uploaded in its original 1080/50p quality & 24Mbps in an mp4 container, which took 12 hours to complete, with 2 hours for Youtube to re-encode my video to a lower bitrate for publication.
Now, while editing the video clips, i noticed that there was several parts where my camera appeared to very momentarily lose auto focus, which i have never seen these cams do before in all the years i have used them, but the footage that was shot outside at the end of the video seemed to be ok, so all i can put this down to was the horrible job they did with the lighting in the building, as well as all the reflection in the paintwork on the cars as well.
They had a lot of natural daylight coming in thru plastic roofing sheets, and thru several big doorways that opened onto the docks outside, plus they had all these horrible lights hanging from the roof, then they had lamps on poles around some of the cars, very poorly done, and maybe this was the cause of my auto focus system going crazy every now and then.
Anyway, i got the job done the best i could given i had to weave around all the people, and put up with people bumping me and cutting in front of the camera, even tho they could see that i was shooting the video.
I am now contacting some of the car owner to ask if they would like me to shoot some video of their cars at a different location so it can be done properly.
I know this is not the best video i have shot, but given the conditions i had to deal with, i am pretty happy with the way it came out.
Cheers.
The video LED lights were not attached while i was shooting this video

Wow you guys have some strange looking cars down under. Lot's of interesting ones too...
Personally I would shoot a car / bike show with still camera, not video. Cleaner and less distractions with movement and people walking in front. You can put still images in motion as well. Here is a quick example using some old pics I have on my HDD.Got my retirement plans all set. Looks like I only have to work another 5 years after I die........ -
I should have mentioned that i do have the Photo Slideshow going up tomorrow, as i spent a while taking photos before shooting the video, but my nikon camera had a flat battery
and i forgot to put my spare battery in my video case, so i had to use my video cam in photo mode (16mp) which was ok, given it is a dedicated video camcorder.
I agree that in most circumstances, photos look more appealing to most, especially if the photos are good quality, but i still personally prefer watching videos of cars, but usually when it is done in the right environment where there are no distractions.
The only thing i don't really like is adding music to a video like this one, it just doesn't feel right when i watch it, probably because i am so used to hearing the original recorded audio when i am doing a commentary, but i had no choice with this video as there was no way i could use the audio from the mic due to the horrible environment, and the echo that was going on.
I am just about to buy a Sony NEX-7 with a Sony F2.8/16mm lens from a friend who was using it specifically for car shows, so in future i will do the photos with that.
have to remember, i am not a photographer in any way, so first up i will be taking photos in full auto mode until i get used to working it properly.
I will put the slideshow up tomorrow.
BTW, the reference you make to adding motion to the photos, yes they are just some of the animation effects that you can apply using your software.
In my slideshows i use a very mild Fade in transition for 2 seconds (from the top to the bottom of the photo) followed by the Zoom In feature, making it appear that the photographer is moving in towards the car, and there are hundreds of these animations and transitions available depending on your software.
The first 2 cars (orange and green) are what we call Panel Vans and these vans were made in various formats to suit different needs, but essentially they were first built for tradesmen to use to carry their tools in, rather than buying an open tray Ute, which had to be covered.
The orange van is a 1978 HZ Sandman, the Sandman was built for recreational use, and came in various configurations, but they were not built exactly like that one in the video, the owner of that one built up the custom engine and interior, did a custom paint job, big wheels, custom rear interior, etc, and is valued now at over $100,000.
The green one is a late 90's model customized as well, with the newer type of V8 engine found in the newer GMH cars.
You probably recognize most of the older rods.Last edited by glenpinn; 31st Jul 2015 at 08:42.

I'm happy to have seen the end result for your project. Your choice of instrumentals by the Ventures was indeed the right one. I'm not really a car buff but it was interesting to see cars from Australian auto makers.

The music does fit the video well. Good job.
Another song I thought of while watching the video was the 2nd theme song from the Munsters TV show. Sorta along the lines of the Ventures stuff in a gothic way.

Very nice work
Slideshow will be very boring
Why you have blacks between shots instead some dissolve? -
This is the 15 minute Photo Slideshow video of the same event, with the same music.

The Video ReDo editing software does not do Slideshows, nor does it allow us to do things like Fade in or Fade out overlay transitions like other software does, but we have asked the developers if we can have it included, at the moment they say the only transition they may do will be an option to do a Fade In and Fade Out using black, which we will be able to place between cuts, but it still won't overlay, it will be just like the solid black transition that is in my video, but it will fade in/fade out.
My Slideshows are created using Movie Maker 2012, with a mild 2 second Fade down transition, along with a Zoom In animation applied to each photo.
The 25 minute Video was a test for me as much as anything, and those black transitions between scenes are 1 second duration, now i realize it is too long, and i will cut it down to half a second if it allows me, just so it appears as a flash between cars.Last edited by glenpinn; 31st Jul 2015 at 18:33.

they can terminate your account for using copyright music. i wouldn't dispute something if it's true.

Yes I like the slideshow much better. The orange "SandMan" van wagon reminds me of the original Mad Max movie circa 1978. My favorite however is the chopped 1930 Ford with the Chevy 409 motor.....

How do i embed the Youtube Videos into my posts like others have been doing it, i usually just post the direct link.
I was quite prepared to contact the right people to seek permission, but others told me to just use it, and if Youtube ask me to remove or dispute the copyright, just dispute it citing that i acknowledged the music in my videos, which i did, and claim the music is already in the public domain, which it already is.
That is what my friend in Sydney has been doing for years with all his videos and slideshows, and h has never had any problems, so i will ring him to ask how i go about this.
We see thousands of youtube video made by amateurs with all sorts of music tracks in them, i am pretty sure they don't get permission to use it.

Update on my Car Show Video.
I have had to remove my original 25 minute Car Video from my Channel because of a problem that i noticed in the video, and also in part to the fact that i was not happy with the 1 second duration (50 frames) of the solid black transition i placed between each Car in the Video.
I have re-mastered the video by fixing the 2 issues i had, as well as by dropping the transitions from 50 frames to 10, making them appear for a lot less time than before, and i am sure that those of you who saw the original video would agree with me on that point.
I now have the video and transitions exactly the way it should have been before, and i apologize for being so fussy, but i was not prepared to leave it there the way it was if i am not happy with it.
Now, the bad news, i was just playing the new Video after it was published, and there appears to be a glitch in the music track at the 16.57 marker point, and it is not in my original video that i created, can someone please check the video and see if you hear it as well
Cheers
