Am I missing a step? I'm a newbie trying to self train on subtitling. I was able to load the video using subtitle edit 3.4.7 then created the subtitle lines but, when I go to save as and save the file as SubRip and then try to play it with VLC or Windows Media player... it doesn't load and the player seems to not recognize the file. I have windows 8.
Can anyone suggest a solution or point me in the right direction? I'm also open to trying any other subtitling tool that anyone would like to recommend.
Thanks,
Jesus

Subtitle file name same as video file?
in VLC subtitles enabled? -
Ok. I just loaded the video file and then loaded the subtitle file and it worked.. how do I place the subtitles there permanently? Do I need to convert it into something else? if so, do I need an additional tool? Thanks!

In subtitles you add empty space on some lines,
you don't need to add, subtitle displayed automatically in the middle -
In Subtitle Edit you can use Tools -> Fix common errors. This will remove the spaces.
