Hi all!
I've got this prob with TMPGEnc.
Whenever i encode some particular divx files, it seemed that whenever at 99% upon completion, the error msg always appear:
'An error occurred when audio was decoded.'
So i searched thru this site as well as the forum and it seemed that many solved this problem by splitting the audio stream (using Virtualdub)first then by encoding it again.
I tried it myself and it doesnt seemed to work for me as the same error always comes up at the end. The resultant encoded mpeg always have a few seconds knocked off its original length.
Tried various TMPGEnc versions with no avail.
Anyone with solutions??
Thanx

The movie could be corrupt.
Try using "Vdub freeze frame.exe" to fix any problems, before the conversion. I also get those errors if there are freeze frames, so fix them before Using TMPGEnc.

Where can i get the free frame.exe thing?
Is it together with virtualdub?
By the way, are freeze frames the ones which cause a video to hang but the audio carries on?
Well, if is that case, the divx i wanna convert isnt corrupt cos it played smoothly using windows media player. -
I get error myself from time to time - I usually just ignore it.
But I imagine running the Layer-III audio decoder on the DivX stream would fix it. It's a part of AVI2VCD, and basically changes the Layer-III audio in a DivX to uncompressed PCM. -
Hi
thanx to all who replied.
I've experimented with Virtualdub to re-encode the divx again. Tried various formats like the divx 4.0b codec, divx fast motion codec, and for the audio stream, i played with various mp3 formats as well as full uncompressed PCM.
Virtualdub seemed to encode it well without any errors.
However, putting the file to encode with TMPGenc ALWAYS yield that irritatin
'An error occurred when audio was decoded.'
I was beginning to wonder whether the error message really meant that the audio stream was the problem or is it some other problem with the divx which even virtualdub can't detect. Maybe its the TMPGEnc itself?
Scheese...i've already wasted encoding hours juz bcos of this darn divx file!!! -
EUREKA!!
I found the solution to my problem!!
I've just split the audio stream from the divx using Vdub.
However, i converted it to 44kHz wave from its original 24kHz. Now TMPGEnc is able to encode the video and audio stream together perfectly! It seemed that TMPenc cannot handle 24kHz well...
Hope this info will be of great help to those who has the same problem!
