Hello, I'm new to this forum.
I have some VHS-C tapes that I would like to burn to a CD
I've seen the DIAMOND VC500 One Touch Video Capture, Edit and Burn to DVD USB 2.0 Adapter ( around $30-$40 )
Is this what I need?
I can use my old JVC camcorder and hook it up to my desktop.
I just want to transfer the video and sound to a CD
If anyone has any input about the Diamond VC500 please let me know. I don't know what to buy. I heard the cheap $8 cords and CD on Ebay was not that great.
Thanks for any help!

The VC500 can do the job. I can not state if it will do a good job.
You will also require a set of composite cables to run from the camera into the VC500. The VC500 is then connected to your desktop's usb port. -
I like and recommend the VC500, but one thing I perhaps don't emphasize clearly is that it's only good for VHS capture when paired with a high-end VCR (read: line TBC) or a DVD recorder's passthrough.
Otherwise you'll get excessive wiggling, frame drops, etc. Its video decoder does not like unstable sources. This criticism also applies to most PC capture devices, to a lesser/greater degree depending.
And its comb filter sucks, so you need to feed it S-Video. Though I haven't tested whether dot crawl and rainbows pop up with typical VHS sources; that particular test was done with DVD test patterns. -
I have a VHS-C ( the small cassette tapes ) that goes in a JVC camcorder. I was going to use the camera and run it into the Desktop Computer. I hope it will work like that.

You can expect problems trying to capture VHS without some form of line TBC, due to the nature of the format. I suspect VHS-C would be even more unstable than the regular type, but I've never used it. Maybe you'll get lucky, but the forums are littered with examples of people being disappointed when they try to connect a regular VCR directly to typical computer capture devices.
This post has an example of an unstabilized VC500 capture done via S-Video. You will need to install the Huffyuv codec (or VLC player) to view it. The black border at the right edge is visibly bent and wobbling: this is common to all such VC500 captures. Line TBC prevents this and other problems.Last edited by Brad; 20th Jul 2015 at 01:04.

Vaporeon800 and DB83 thanks for the replies. I'm not sure now if I want to spend $40 on something that may not work.

Where are you going to get a line-tbc device for $40? What $40 "tbc" are you referring to?
