A irritating thing I have with VLC Player is that it always starts off-screen, i.e. it shows -say- 3/4 of the screen, the rest is off-screen.
I have to resize it it a lot.
Issue has been reported a few times by others but it seems the default solution (removing preferences) does not solve the issue.
At least not with me. Even if no preferences are set, it starts off-screen.

I returned to VLC player as MPC-HC got issues with playing VIDEO_TS - it got stuck regularly, nothing happening.
Oh .. Nvidea GTX 970, Asus X99 DeLuxe, i5820, so it isn't my hardware.
Did anybody out there have the same issue?
Any solutions?
Thanks!

Just a note, the VLC AppData folder is normally hidden. Go to 'Control Panel>Folder Options>View' and check the box for 'Show hidden files, folders and drives' to show it.
Then it's in your boot drives user folder, as mentioned. Uncheck the 'hidden' box after the modification or you will have hidden folders everywhere. -
Dear both,
Many thanks for the feedback.
Deleting the VLC-folder (C:\Users\MyNamel\AppData\Roaming\VLC) has been suggested by the developer already.
See the threads.
Also Google: VLC off screen site:forum.videolan.org
Regretfully it doesn't work for me, at least not by default.
I then continued to untag VLC Settings->"Resize interface to video size", resulting in a small playback box, which is again too small.
I changed the size of the box again, moved to another place on my screen and now it stick, i.e. the size I want.
Until next time....
(backed up the vlc folder, so I can restore it, in case of need)
This all is taking a lot of time on trying, etc.
Have been busy with it for over an hour or so before even starting this thread. Frustrating to be honest.
Seems I have a bit of a problem to find a simple player.
MPC-HC has issues with playing video_ts (DVD files). It regularly halts and does not respond when I do a fast forward or backwards.
VLC plays them well, but has this resize issue, which, hopefully is solved now.
In the past I used PowerDVD Ultra, but stopped upgrading at v12 (I started with v6).
Didn'tt like the interface anymore: not user-friendly, requiring a lot of clicks and browsing etc. just to play a simple video.
Unlike VLC, MPC or other 'free' players.
Also it took quite some time loading (bigger program).
Last but not least, their upgrades aren't really cheap and over the years I have paid roughly $ 400 on upgrades.
(An upgrade now would cost $125 inc taxes)
Anyway, that aside, keeping my fingers crossed VLC will keep the window size now.
