I have a DVD with some content from a demo reel that I would like to transfer to USB. But it does not play back from the DVD player on my PC. It does, however, play back from my Bluray player. Is there a setting adjustment I can try to allow the PC to read the DVD or is there any way I can extract the DVD audio/video from the Bluray using the Digital Out coax jack?

Instead of play...right click on the drive and choose view browse files
Sounds like you have a video file in avch format not DVD format,

I did install VLC but it was unable to open the file. I keep getting the same pop up window saying please install a DVD but it is already in the drive. There is a single folder on the DVD containing 4 video files.

Perhaps you are right theewizard, but the drop down list does not give me an option to browse files.

If you can see the file names and extensions
    You see browsing that folder
If you cannot see the file extensions
You need to click on folder options and in check hide file extensions

I am not able o see files or file extensions. Here is the error message I am receiving whenever I attempt to open the file:

    Your input can't be opened:
VLC is unable to open the MRL 'dvd:///D:/'. Check the log for details.

Can't you put it in your Blu Ray player, play the file(s) and check for a "file Info" option?

You have to ask yourself then.....What can a Blu Ray player play that will not play/open in a computer DVD drive?
    A Blu Ray disc?

The OP clearly stated that he could see one folder and four files on the disk. So, it must be a DVD. Too bad he doesn't know how to tell us a simple thing like the file extension(s).
