  1. Hi, im having a problem with cracked lines when watching videos, they are not there all the time but they are noticable especially when you flick through a video, i use media player classic, but i have also seen them when i am playing videos on youtube. Im pretty sure ive seen the same on my other pc aswell dont think it as bad though and on the vlc player, both pc's have got almost same stuff in it, the motherboards are slightly different, the graphics cards are nvidia geforce.

Its not my graphics cards, because i have just upgraded one of them, so could it be the slot on my motherboards, or could it be geforce updates, i cant remember when it started, so cant trace back to the graphic cards updates, ive not played any games recently, so i dont know what its like on that, but i will be checking soon.

Has anyone else had problems like that, with the graphics card slots or any updates from nvidia or any other reason for grey cracked lines.

Thanks in advance for any help

  2. It sounds like tearing -- the top part if the picture is from one frame, the bottom part from another, with a line or two of junk between the two. Often the tear moves up or down the screen or appears in random vertical locations. It's most often visible on horizontal panning shots. This is a problem of the graphics card driver. Try different output devices and the different vertical sync modes in MPCHC. MPCHC also has a tearing test built in so you can easily see the problem.

  4. Many people have had the same problem. It's usually fixed by a graphics driver update. I don't know why the manufacturers manage to screw this feature up so often.

  6. If you are using multiple monitors -- the vertical sync feature may only work on one of the graphics card's outputs.
