  1. I know my install of VD has worked with AVIsynth files in teh past .......... but I can't seem to get anywhere now.

So stepped back to beginning ... went to the beginners intro http://avisynth.nl/index.php/First_script

created the simple one line script ... and while it will open and run correctly in WMP

When I try open up VD and then File>open video file and point it to the test.avs (or any .avs) I get the error 'unable to open file'

So frustrating that I can't get this first tsep running - am I missing something ?

Found one source on-line that states that I need to use VirtualDubMod ... but never used that before.

  2. VirtualDub should work. Someone else might be able to suggest why it won't open scripts, but I'd try VirtualDubMod anyway just to see if it will.

How are you opening the script?...Do NOT use "Run Script"! Use only "Open Video File". Many people get stuck on that one.

  4. That is what I am using.
It will open mp4 and avi OK, but fails on all .avs files.

Then it appears something isn't installed correctly. (32bit/64bit mismatch?)

  7. OK reinstalled VD .... no change
Did a new install of AVIsynth 2.6 and now it works

    Something must have become broken.
