  1. I have downloaded MKVExtractGUI and extracted it on the same folder as mkvtoolnix. I have checked and the GUI and mkvextract.exe are both existing in the same folder.

Anyway, when I drag an MKV file into MKVExtractGUI and selected one of the streams (video or audio or subtitles), it just says "MKVExtract cannot extract this kind of file". I've tried various files with various audio formats (AAC, FLAC, DTS) and various subtitle formats (SSA or SRT). All the videos are in h.264 format.

When I tried the same operation on my OS X machine albeit a different software (mkvtools), I have no problems demuxing any of the streams.

I've attached a screeshot which should show:

    1. mkvextract.exe and MKVExtractGUI residing on the folder
    2. the error message I'm getting

Any ideas what I could be doing wrong?

    Thanks a lot!

  5. So you've learned something today - always read a description of a program and comments underneath first

    It's all there:

    Alternative to MKVExtractGUI:
    MKVcleaver
    MKVExtractGUI-2
    MKVToolnix

    "Use this "updated" version https://www.videohelp.com/tools/MKVExtractGUI-2"

    Good luck with extractions!
