  1. I'm trying to encode a mpeg file. When I try to do it with TMPGE it just freezes. I tried to convert the audio to wave first with virtual dub but it said "couldn't locate decomppresor for format WMV2". Has anyone encounter this problem before. The file plays file on windows media player, I just can't turn it into a vcd. Help

  2. Get TMPGEnc 12a or VirtualDub 1.3a, they will be able to handle this file type.

  3. That didn't work. TMPGE worked but the audio was awful. Any other ideas. Thanks.

  4. Did you manage to extract the Audio from the AVI using VirtualDub ?
Did you play that WAV file after to see how it played ?

  5. Virtual Dub 1.3a gave the same error as 1.3c and as I said tmpge worked but the audio was badly damaged.

  6. Sang, was the audio badly damaged before the encoding or just after ?

  7. Ok, I know it's been awhile but I've been busy. This problem still hasn't resolved itself. To answer your question Sefy the audio was fine before I tried to encode it. Any other ideas.

Have you tried to strip the audio using dbpoweramp?

I did something similar to an ASF file.

  9. I just tried using dbpoweramp. The good news is the file seem to be converted just fine but the bad news is I can't hear it. It says I'm missing the proper codec if I just try to play the wav file. When I convert it using the wave file it no longer crashes TMPGE but now audio comes out either. Any other ideas.

  10. What about graphedit ? It was instrumental in getting the audio out of some messy asf files for me...

  11. Immortal547, since you managed to extract the audio into a WAV, can you play that wav in WinAMP ? cause that WAV might be an encoded WAV, and using WinAMP you can save it as an Uncompressed WAV.

  12. Sefy, I can't play the file in winamp. It gave me a codec error. The file was really small too, only about 48k from a 270mb file. This file is driving me crazy.

  13. Immortal547, can you play the AVI itself in WinAMP ? and if you can, can you hear the sound correctly ?

  15. aguz86, if you could watch it before then i don't know what will help you. If you can't you probably just need the codec. Download Nimo or one of the others.

Sefy, I tried using toolame and tmpge said it could use it as the decoder.

  17. Thanks for everybody who tried to help. I was able to encode the file with TMPGE 2.53. The funny thing is if I go through the wizard it works but if I skip it it doesn't. Hope this help others who are having the same problem.
