I have this ePhoto Pro Softbox Lighting Kit, with a better pair of tripod stands. Setting up a new studio area and would like to be able to somehow mount two softboxes to either the ceiling or the beam that you can see in the photo below to cut down on the clutter on the floor. Are there any kinds of wall or ceiling mounts available for this type of softbox? I've attached a few photos below:

Unfortunately, a lot of those 'beams' in a room that is covered with sheetrock and plastered, only have support wood at the corners. In between is just sheetrock, sometimes only a 1/2" thick.
You can mount to the sheetrock with several types of hollow wall fasteners or you may be able to find some solid wood inside the hollow beam to screw into.
I'm assuming this isn't a rental as landlords don't like holes in the wall or ceilings.
Probably an important question would be, how much do those lights weigh? That might determine the mounting method. Worst case if you have to use a hollow wall, you could use a mounting board made out of plywood with several wall fasteners in it the spread the load.
A local building supply store should be able to set you up with just about any type of attachment. And that looks like an outlet on the ceiling which would make the set up even better.
Looking at just the shipping weight, it seems to be 30lbs or a bit less than 10 pounds each. I would probably want them to attach to wood, not sheetrock.Last edited by redwudz; 28th Jun 2015 at 13:08. Reason: spelling

I should have mentioned, this is my new house, and I finished the basement here, I know for a fact that the beam is solid wood, we just wrapped it with sheet rock so there's no worry about weight issues. And the outlet, yes, I had it positioned there so I could plug the lights in
I'm just trying to come up with a mounting system. Once the lights are up, they'll be basically stationary, maybe a little adjustment needed here and there but they'll be focused on a backdrop....

Since they appear to mount on a metal rod, I'd probably look for a welding shop that could fabricate a flat plate with a rod attached. A 1/4" - 3/16" thick plate about 6" square with four holes for lag bolts would work and a length of solid rod could be welded in the center. A thinner plate would work, but harder to weld to. You could also use a hollow tube to cut down on weight.

I think I'm good to go, I found a mounting plate made by the same company that makes the kit, just ordered a couple of them on Amazon
