Hi Everyone,
I recorded a 30 second clip on my Sony HDR-CX580 handycam. The resolution on my computer is great. 720x480; Data Rate: 9100 kpbs; Frame Rame: 29 frames/second Video format: 16:9. The picture is really clean and has HD quality. The video format is MPG.
When I put the video into Pinnacle 14 and Pinnacle 17 the video quality is very poor. Poor resolution and NOT HD quality.
How do I preserve the integrity of the video? How do I keep it the same quality as on my computer.
Thanks!

No, it doesn't. You said it's 720x480 which is standard definition.

Again, what are you trying to use Pinnicle for exactly? Maybe it can be done using a different and better program.

Thanks for the feedback you guys.
It is indeed Standard Resolution. All I do in the Pinnacle Program is that I just import the file into the program. Once I preview the video in the program, it is at a seemingly much worse quality. I'm not sure how much worse. I am trying to find that information in Pinnacle.
I use Pinnacle for personal film-making. I do not do re-encode the file (or I think I'm not). -

I think he's complaining about the preview quality within pinnacle
Try setting the preview quality to something higher. It might be set low , to optimize for playback
That doesn't affect the actual file quality. The preview is just a visual representation of the video. -
