  1. ok i dled the older version of virtual dub(1.4.9) and the latest of lsx. i used the frameserver guide that sefy recommended and i still got an error here is what the error said, this is an error through lsx.

Audio stream has unsupported format or compression type

This program supports only PCM audio format with sample rates
    11025, 22050, 44100, 48000 Hz

I have no idea what this means how can i solve this problem?
    Thank you

When I convert from a divx avi which is about 700mb I end up with an mpg that is well over 1 GB in size. Is there a way to convert it so it will fit on one VCD ?

    Thanks

  3. camelmilk1, open your AVI in media player, and use the File / Properties and then into the Advanced, and write down here all the codecs you see there.

  4. sefy,

i played the avi file and i went under file/properties as instructed. there wasn't an advanced feature but there were details here they are

    Length: 1:37:31

    Bitrate: 2Kbps

    Media Type: Video

Audio Codec: MPEG Layer 3 Decoder

Video Codec: Microsoft MPEG-4 Video Decompressor

(a few of the things were left out like file name and location and other unimportant things of the same nature)

I opened the file in the old version of media player and there was an advanced option in the properties but I found that no codecs were installed I don't understand how this can be true because I know for a fact that I installed the divx codec and the file wouldnt play if the divx codec weren't installed.

    Thanks

  5. Strage, "MPEG Layer 3 Decoder"should be supported in VirtualDub without too much problem, but it would explain why it gives TMPGEnc so much problem.

Can you play the AVI in.. hmm WinAMP ? and can you see if it identifies the Audio and plays it correctly ? if it does, there might still be a way out of this mess

  7. alright i solved the problem
i searched on the forums for a blank screen problem and i found that i needed to increase the priority of the

    DirectShow Multimedia File Reader

    under

    Environmental Settings / VFAPI plug-in

It works fine now thanks to everyone for all the help.
