  1. I have been lookin around for a good program to use for .avi to .mpeg conversion. I have tried vcdgalaxy(TMPGenc) with out any luck. Instead of converting my divx/.avi files it gives me an error for all of the movies that i have downloaded. I also tried avi2vcd but this program is extremely slow and can take up to a week or two to convert the file and it also gave me errors w/ frame converting. VCDEasy doesn't work and FlaskMpeg does not work either these only work to convert mpg to mpeg1 which is not the right file conversion for me. Please let me know about any good programs out there thank you.

  2. Get VirtualDub, open your DivX/AVI file, select Save WAV, then open TMPGEnc, open your AVI as the Video Input, and the WAV as the Audio Input and then load a VCD or SVCD Template, and encode.

  4. Wow you should feel honored Sefy(He's the man) replied to your post .That last post of yours that wasn't back talk was it.I had the same problem as you. did you use the first guide under converting (divx to mpeg) like sefy basicaly told you too?Ok here is what to do go to the guide and there is a section near the bottom of it that says problems under that it says problems with tmpegenc press here, it will then tell you to change something a prioty 1 or 2 something of that nature can't really recall but that's what I did and wham! bam! bang! sorry I got all excited there and thought I was watching and old batman re-run. Oh by the way I'm not sure but I think Sefy wrote this guide(sorry to the auther if its not sefy no disrespect) . I know he has writen some of the other guides. If I can help anymore post it I 'll try to help

  5. Thank you vcd4me, Ialthough i did not write any DivX=>VCD guide, I just wrote the DVD Backup guides, but i'm honoured that you think so highly of me.

camelmilk1, no need to get angry, you gotta do this logicly, first thing to consider, did you download both TMPGEnc and the TMPGEnc VFP Plugin ?
Secondly, did you register the TMPGEnc VFP plugin in the registry using the batch file which came with it ?
Did you put both TMPGEnc and the VFP in the same folder ?

  6. Sefy your more than welcome! I know you wrote some of the guides, and I surf this site alot and I always see your advice givien out to help the new as well as confused(like me). Anyways back to the subject for camelmilk1 I think that the new version of tmpegenc comes with the plugin of which you speak. I downloaded it just about two weeks ago and I followed the guide and had a problem and went to the problem section and read what to change in the vfp plugin and there it was just a few clicks latter and of course several hours of converting and a succesful burn then in front of the tv on my couch watching "the rookie" camelmilk just try again I have faith that you can do it. I got my computer in oct.2001 (never used one before) taught myself to do mp3s and moved on to vcds(got my high speed connection on march 18). Oh yeah and when I read the guide to converting divx/avi a few weeks ago I didn't even know what a zip file was but hey I asked everyone to help and they did!(thanks of you who have helped me) I'll help you man, isn't that what this site is for, helping each other sharing info and insite, I feel its kinda like the movie "pay it foreward"in a small way though. Hey if a computer ileterate clown like me can do it so can you!! Good luck and ask away! I'm listening!

  7. Thanks for all your help. I'm trying to do what I can. Where can I get the newer version of TMPGEnc which comes with the VFP Plugin? I downloaded a program called VCD Galaxy which came with TMPGEnc but I'm pretty sure that it did not come with the VFP Plugin, I would really appreciate if I could get a direct link from someone to the download site. Oh and to answer your question vcd4me I did not mean any disrespect or back talk to Sefy, I was angry and frustrated because the program would not accept my DivX/Avi file. Thanks for all the help I really appreciate the fact that peopel take time out of their way to answer my questions and help me out. What's sad is that I'm a CE major but I don't really like the software aspect of it much I like the hardware part more :D .

  15. Another question about TMPGEnc. Are you supposed to see a preview of the video as it is being encoded? also what's the average size of the mpeg converted video that comes out of the program?
    Quote Quote
  16. To see the preview in TMPGEnc, make sure in the Option - Preview Option, it is set to "Display with thinning"

As for the size, if you are doing a standard VCD, each 1min of movie will take 10mb file size.

  18. error at 99% aaaahhhhh damn thing. i input the video and it was accepted as both the video and audio source and then at 99% i got an error. so i redid it converted the movie audio to a .wav using virtual dub as sefy instructed. input the movie as video source and the newly converted .wav as the audio source. now we'll see how it works out and report back to you guys tomorrow

  19. yo get the panasonic mpeg1 encoder. I think its better then TMPGEnc, or maybe its just my computer but when i encode wit TMPGEnc it comes out lookin choppy and blurry. But when i encoded wit panasonic it looked waaay better
    Quote Quote
  20. where can i get the panasonic convertor ryu? can you post a link to it? thanks
    Quote Quote
  21. No, i'm afraid he can't post a link, Panasonic Encoder is NOT a freeware, the maximum you can do is use the trial version.

There will be no links to illegal software on the forum for the sake of VCDhelp

  26. I just thought I had a Divx video I was encoding that gave an error near the end the error was not a fault with TMPGEnc but a fault with the actual .avi I can't remeber exactly but the error was something like "Invalid floating point Integer" I found that there was one corupt frame towards the end of the video. There might be a way to fix it as a work around I used the source range setiings and encoded all the frames before the offending one then all the frames after it then joined the two halves together.

  27. Or you can use the VirtualDub to LSX example from my Complete Guide 2.0, and just use TMPGEnc instead of LSX: http://www.digital-digest.com/dvd/articles/dvdtovcd/frameserv3.html

  28. alright i used the virtualdub frameserver to tmpgenc and recieved some interesting errors it didnt work properly and i don't know how to explain the errors they had something to do with ms visual c++ 6.0 which i have installed on my computer, i'm running win2k on my computer also if that might help solve anything. oh and where can i find the lsx mpeg encoder? is it in the tools section of this website?

  29. There is some sort of problem with VirtualDub v1.4.10 when it comes to frameserving, I suggest you try getting a previous version like v1.4.9, that one works much better (you can check the VD frameserving topic).
